Having travelled over to Royal Ascot i stayed at Camberley, close to Ascot and the day before the Kings Stand i wandered around and went into Betfred and saw they were betting 11/2 about Ortensia.I went up and asked for 3500 pound at 11/2. The person there called through to the office to see if they could take the bet,i heard the person on the phone saying ‘are they English’ and the lady said ‘no he is Australian’. Head office informed her and then she informed me that they would take 400 pound at 11/2!!!! Unbelievable grow some balls Betfred you poor excuse for a betting shop! The moral of the story is Ladbrokes took my 3500 pound at 5/1 no problem and they got my cash, good luck to them, they actually take bets!!! Over here you would get 30 000 pound or a lot more on a Group 1 race, but to bet 400 pound is an embarrassment they should not have a licence!By the time i left i think i may have owned shares in Ladbrokes, but they let me on and so be it.Though to take 400 pound on a horse that is only 11/2 is a joke, what you call a mickey mouse operation! Dunaden would have got a lot back, but a shakespearean tragedy there,ah well only have to wait until the KG to get it back! Though it was worth every penny to enjoy 3 days racing there!
