Thought i had it for a mo with Moroder.April 29, 2023 at 14:45 #1646075I thought Tea Clipper was going best turning for home but he is clearly a non stayer.
Maybe worth running in the Hennessy or whatever it is called now but I suppose he might find one or two a bit better than him.

April 29, 2023 at 15:13 #1646087I’ve always felt Tea Clipper was a weak finisher at 3M Cork so he surprised me with how well he ran today but he might just be a weak finisher whatever trip you run him over sadly and he’s had his wind done last January, didn’t make a great deal of difference. He’s a decent horse in the spring at the big festivals over fences or hurdles just falls slightly short of being top class.
Its easy to say it with hindsight but the horse who was 10lbs well in won the National and the horse who was 6lbs well in today won today when he had conditions to suit him, some unknowns around the recovery period but it was on paper at least an easier race than Ayr was. I didn’t back him mainly because I hoped something more unexposed at the trip might improve for it at least 6lbs but not to be. Sometimes racing is easier than we make it sound/seem

Fair point. He did seem to empty quite quickly today (jumped the last in 4th and finished 8th) but he probably is just a weak finisher, unfortunately.
April 29, 2023 at 18:56 #1646128Well done those who stood with Kitty’s Light for a remarkable staying treble. Some constitution and great work by Christian, surely the calmest racehorse trainer ever.

A remarkable treble!
April 30, 2023 at 04:00 #1646152Will they ever risk a crack at the National or has these wins blown the handicap mark to where a big weight is likely and that along with the horse’s size and the jumping style rule the race out completely?
On a side note, this was his 8th run of the year of which only one was under 3m in trip (and that was just 1.5F short of 3m), he has raced the best part of 24 miles on ground ranging from good to firm to soft on right and left handed tracks all whilst never carrying less than 11st and on one occassion he lumped around 12st……yet his final 3 runs of the season produced his best performances.
Just goes to show that good horses can take more than 4 races or so a season with no ill effects and over the last two seasons this horse has run a total of 16 times, which is more than some do for a whole career…….I doff my cap to the whole team but especially to Kitty’s Light.
April 30, 2023 at 13:03 #1646173I’ve always thought he would be a national type. It’s hard to believe he still only 7 years old.
Hope the handicappers don’t go hard on him like they did with Cloth Cap, although he had wind (breathing) issues to but handicapper got grip on him.
His last few runs are as you say improvement from start season, he could just be a spring type horse?Vf x
April 30, 2023 at 13:04 #1646174I also read Moroder being aimed for next years Grand National in mind

April 30, 2023 at 14:46 #1646180I’m on Kitty 40s for the National for the time being. I would expect him to drop a few lbs during the winter runs as he won’t get his ground then.
