Entries………………

Frodon is the obvious one for me, and there’s no way I’d miss him here, but I could equally see him heading to another race in the card, and I think he could be interesting for the race that precedes The National next week. Definitely waiting.
Equally appealing is The Dabbler, but I’ve already had my fingers burnt from him Antepost this season, so a bit more hesitant for this race. Waitnsee is another potential Irish Raider, and despite his big price, I think he could surprise (also entered at Ayr)
I’ll be keeping a close eye on Planned Paradise at Haydock today, as I think that as the better ground kicks in, he could be a bit of a dark one.
Cloudy Glen has a poor run at Cheltenham to overcome, but I don’t think he’s out of it at Aintree next week, and he’s a big price here.
Like Cloudy Glen, Lord Du Mesnil seems to have been around for ages now (probably because he has), but after a very encouraging comeback at Bangor, they seem to have been very careful with him. If he doesn’t get an entry for Aintree, I might just throw a few quid his way early at 50’s. He’s my tentative early selection, but just not quite yet.
April 18, 2023 at 00:59 #1644334Absolutely itching to bet Frodon here, and I’ll definitely take the 12’s even before the Five Day Decs
The one I have bet early is stablemate Broken Halo. Last three runs were here, and won the last two, albeit not in races as competitive as this will be. I bet him in one of those three Sandown runs, and unfortunately it was when he disappointed in The Masters Chase. That’s a concern, as is the price, 33’s. I’d say that’s completely wrong, and big enough to suggest he ain’t going, but I’ll chance.

FrodonApril 18, 2023 at 05:21 #1644343Not sure he’ll run here but if Hewick did come over he,d have to be the play
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 18, 2023 at 09:00 #1644358Hewick is set to go for Punchestown according to his trainer.
April 18, 2023 at 17:05 #1644435What a pity that Nicholls isn’t bold enough to enter Bravemansgame after his non-run at Aintree. Class horses rarely run in handicaps now, which is a shame.
April 18, 2023 at 17:16 #1644436I’d be very cautious on betting Hewick next time out. Kauto Star had a similar fall once in the Gold Cup and it took about a 1 1/2 years to see him back to near his best.

I quite fancy one of his entries, Switch Hitter. There’s a bit of stamina about on his dam’s side.
April 18, 2023 at 22:58 #1644480“Whitbread” – there, I just wanted to say it.
I’m tempted to say “Pond Fence” too, but best not to overdo things.
I like a young progressive horse, even a novice, in this.
I also think Dan Skelton has demonstrated he knows how to lay a horse out for a big Saturday handicap.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 20, 2023 at 18:54 #1644716Mahler Mission at 20/1 would interest me a lot right now, as would Chemical Energy at 25/1. I couldn’t possibly bet either until Monday st the earliest, but I think that I would be swaying towards Mahler right now
April 21, 2023 at 14:55 #1644798Looking at the Whitbread racecard today (Friday 21st).
I see that Franky Du Berlais, originally no.21 on the card in the Racing Post, is listed as a non-runner. OK, fair enough. But why isn’t Hill Sixteen listed as a non-runner?*
Racing doesn’t help itself at times. How hard is it for a horse recorded as deceased to be taken out of all races it is publicised as being entered for, immediately?
I mean, if the antis were properly organised they’d notice that and be all over it, and that would be an awful look for the sport.
(*whatever technically correct answer you give isn’t good enough, I am afraid).
April 24, 2023 at 11:15 #1645203It’s plain daft to bet one just now, with the next declaration stage imminent, but I’ve bet Cloudy Glen at 50-1
If Hidden Heroics is still in the field this afternoon, I’ll bet him today as well
April 24, 2023 at 14:01 #1645226Hewick 16-1 ew
April 24, 2023 at 14:50 #1645231I’ll definitely join you Mike if he diverts from Punchestown.
I’ve added Frodon here. Got to be a good chance this is the last chance I’ll bet him, so I don’t mind having a fair swing at him if he’s declared, and happy enough to start off at the 12’s right now

Frodon 12’sApril 24, 2023 at 15:07 #1645236I cashed out VTC after realising he was off to Punchestown.
April 24, 2023 at 16:15 #1645242Was about to say Hewick running Punchestown next Wednesday. Do you think Kitty’s Light will run in this having only just ran in Scottish national Saturday and winning?
Can’t be many more races for From before retirement beckons
Only one got on at moment is Annsam
VF x
April 25, 2023 at 11:16 #1645317I’m pleased to have waited here with neither of mine running, and at this moment in time I would be interested in Kitty’s Light even a week after his win at Ayr. It can be done, and I think that he won very nicely. I’m having to talk myself out of betting him just now
April 25, 2023 at 11:31 #1645323Imo Kitty’s Light won’t win this after his Scottish National run.
