Their constant trailers and plugs get right on my nerves too, Ginge.

The worst is on Today in the mornings, where they waste time with completely unnecessary trailers every half hour and then rush important interviewees because they’re running short on time.

    Eejits.

Current favourite BBC Sounds podcast is Jon Ronsons ‘Things Fell Apart’. I’d pay the licence fee just for that. He’s an American equivalent of Louis Theroux although Jon was born in Wales and Louis was born in America.

I don’t mind the licence fee continuing so long as mine can be divided solely between paying Clive Myrie and Lyse Doucet.

I don’t think Emily Maitlis is particularly left wing – she got stuck right into Corbyn when he was Labour Leader – in fact I don’t think she’s particularly anything, politically.

She’s simply a political big beast journalist in the mould of a Paxman or a Neil who enjoys reducing politicians to quivering lumps of jelly.

I see no reason to doubt what she says.

If the BBC disagrees it is free to take action or at least refute her points, they’ll have all the evidence they need.

I once upset a load of feminists on Twitter by remarking how much Maitlis clearly relishes being a bitch to politicians.

They said I was being misogynistic.

None of the same people batted an eyelid when I said how much Neil clearly relishes being a b*****d to politicians.

Ironically, Maitlis was the one and only reason I used to watch Newsnight – I was a fan.

    Funny old game, Saint.

I imagine upsetting feminists on Twitter must be a very easy thing to do, intentionally or not.

For the record, groups of people taking offence to comments on on Twitter, made intentionally or not, is far from limited to feminists. Or women. Or left. Or right. You get the picture. Nor is then ignoring an identical comment made the other way.

I would have to heartily agree with that analysis.

The standard of broadcaster at the BBC has deteriorated badly in recent years. Some of the announcers can’t even speak properly and one sports correspondent on Radio 5 who also can’t speak properly recently said in a report that Emma Radacanu had beaten Serena Williams 6-4 6-nil  Some of the sports correspondents appear to know next to nothing about sport and most, anything at all about horse racing.

During the 1987 General Election, David Dimbleby co-hosted the Nine O’Clock News (as it was in those days). At one point he had to read out a football result and advised the audience that Swindon Town had defeated Gollingham 2-love.

You could almost hear the laughter from everyone else on set.

I occasionally used to work for Grandstand and wrote the racing stories Des Lynam et al read out on air.

I suspect someone in sport was in a mischievous mood and the item got past the News Editor and onto Dimbleby’s desk.
