An interesting decision and one that went with the market. I suppose this shows that JP will always choose the best man for the job at the present time, when maybe some would have gone the Paul Nicholls/Sam Twiston-Davies route and sided with a young jockey who could be shaped and developed with time.
Given the way JP operates, the wise old head is probably the best fit.
A more compelling question is who will get the Henderson job? de Boinville is the obvious choice, but Noel Fehily is also being touted.
