Dear madman
Did you not notice that Cecil was let off scot free while his jockey was penalised in the Curley case.? Read Aidan’s account of things in France when his horse won the French Guineas. He is preparing to explain himself to the powers that be if called in!Which he wasn’t.
They all cheat so lets make an example of the small guy to keep the public happy. Arrogant and blatant cheating is wrong. Subtle and humble cheating is OK I dont think so. Why should a punter have mercy on another punter?
Cecil was found guilty of cheating at the sales and there was not a word about it. Give me a break. Who was the trainer that sent everyone a letter saying they would have to pay Lester extra? And walked away scott free despite violating the Rules of Racing?
We do,you know, always turn on our ownselves and let the big guys walk!
May 17, 2007 at 10:53 #59117I totally agree with you Andy, in Tom Quealy’s case he was more than likely riding to Cecils orders, but Cecil gets away with it.
Another case in point, Miles Rogers [platinum racing], all the trainers were cleared of any wrong doing, Karl Burke & Kevin Ryan spring to mind. Why ? is Rogers going to lay the horses blindly, without consulting the trainers, spare me !. Alan Berry also another example.
Owners and Jockeys bare the brunt, while the equally guilty trainers largely get away with it.
He is not only a punter but a trainer, how many times has he cheated punters of their dough, when one of his horses has an outstanding chance on the ratings, horse drifts like barge, is beaten that far that even radar wouldn’t even pick it up.
Another example, a punter fancies a horse in a race that he thinks has outstanding chance, but Curley has one in it with absoluetly no form, but Curley backs it off the board and bolts up with Spencer looking around and laughing at the punters fancy.
I myself do not back in races where Curley has a runner but Millions of punters do, and are cheated out of their money, by this gangster.
Should be talked about in the same breath as John Mc Cracken.

May 17, 2007 at 11:36 #59121Why not back Curley’s horses when there is a deluge of money for it? Thats what I would do…. :)

The value is usually gone by the time you get your bet on. While Barney has snapped up all the tasty prices.
May 17, 2007 at 15:57 #59124So you’d back something else?
A winning bet is a value bet in comparison to a losing one…
May 18, 2007 at 10:19 #59126How can you define value where Curley is concerned!
The occasional bit of 6/4 about a 1/10 shot isnt bad business!
May 18, 2007 at 10:22 #59127My point exactly Smithy…
May 18, 2007 at 11:06 #59129Under the terms of the new gambling act due to come into force this year it will be an offence to be caught cheating.
This includes mis use of information and those caught can face up to two years in the nick.
We should start building a new local prison near Newmarket without delay!

May 28, 2007 at 16:59 #59132Barney’s appeal is this week. What price he wins it?

Its today Zorro, if he wins it, he will come out screaming of the injustice of it all, if he loses he will do exactly the same thing.
I think he will lose as very little appeals are successful lately, the authorities are getting tougher, and not before time.
May 29, 2007 at 17:59 #59134Agree with andyod. It is a different rule for the rich and powerful.
As usual the small trainer is hammered if caught yet the bigger yards have a blind eye turned.
As stated many times however regardless of price or value if a Curley horse is backed take whatevere price you get as it will win!!
At the appeal today Queally’s ban was increased to 28 days as it was his second like offence within the relevant time frame.
Curley’s fine stands.
Both forfeited their deposits.

This isn’t actually true. Particularly if you witness the case involving Florimund and Sir Michael Stoute last year.
May 30, 2007 at 10:22 #59140Glad no-one offered me a price.
May 30, 2007 at 10:41 #59142When do we get your celebrity As to the plebeian Qs, zorro? Or have I missed them?
May 30, 2007 at 11:20 #59144So someone has lit Barney’s fire. Quick call out the National Gaurd Mr. President. I’d say everyone is quaking in their boots Barney [ not anymore Barney, times are changing ], your fire was lit a long time ago, it was smoldering, just needed a little oxygen.
But your rants are so passe, I suppose you built yourself up a reputation to protect, so you better keep up appearances. Its just a pity they couldn’t ban you for life, as nobody will miss you.
