Quite a day they have had including at Towcester
May 11, 2010 at 02:18 #295222Nice to see the good guys winning.
May 11, 2010 at 08:42 #295240Why the need for censorship of my earlier post please guys? I only suggested that the BHA should examine the bank accounts of Curley and the phone records of him, Grant and O’Regan.
At the same time I asked whether the BHA had quizzed Howard J. on the origins of the £20K he was recently reported having had stolen?
Doesn’t the BHA have a statutory duty to investigate large cash holdings to ensure there has been no impropriety e.g. money laundering? Not that I’m suggesting Howard J. is anything other than completely above board and a model citizen.
Floating around perfectly reasonable opinions/questions should not warrant TRF censorship, or should it?
KMay 11, 2010 at 12:08 #295264You are not suggesting that there’s a link between the logo on O’Regan’s jodhpurs and the cash in Howard J’s safe, are you ?
Backing two runners is the relentless pursuit of value. Backing each way is a shortcut to the poor house. Only 7% make a long term profit.
May 11, 2010 at 12:09 #295266Ken –
I removed the post and didn’t have time to pm you at that moment Ken.
The wording of your original post was slightly different to that above.
You’ll appreciate that care needs to be taken when discussing this type of issue and while I’m all for limiting censorship we obviously need to err on the side of caution.
I’d remind anyone posting on this forum that
YOU ARE PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COMMENTS YOU MAKE.
Worth bearing in mind in light of the following –

TAKE CARE!
May 11, 2010 at 12:37 #295272In, other words Ken the "writ" would land on your doormat.

As, David says it is always best to "err on the side of caution" unless you have large pockets.

Regards – Matron
May 11, 2010 at 12:46 #295275To suggest that anyone least of all the BHA investigate Barneys phone records is like putting their hand into the honey comb. You must buy the honey, but first Barney must be willing to sell.Same applies to all jockeys.
May 11, 2010 at 13:02 #295279"Sorry, y’er Honour, but I can’t afford to pay these damages and costs ‘cos I lost all me dosh backing the non-triers from those illustrious gents across the Court."
"Well, in that case, Mr. Ken, you’ve afforded me no option but to send you to the debtors prison alongside the likes of all those other TRF’ers. Let that be a lesson to you."
As far as censoring my posts Corm and Matron. Whilst I may have subsequently re-phrased my original post because I couldn’t remember exactly what I’d written, I stand by exactly what I wrote and it’s a matter of opinion as to whether it could be described as defamatory. I think not.
I always take care in my postings to avoid libelling anyone even though I’m still waiting to hear from Nathan Hughes’ solicitors since I revealed the dark goings-on in his Escort Agency. It’s not my fault if he took it the wrong way…how was I to know he didn’t have a fleet of Ford motors.
KMay 11, 2010 at 14:28 #295290If anyone wants to make defamatory comments it’s quite simple to avoid them being open to charges of libel or slander: don’t aim them at a named individual but make them ambiguous generalisations aimed at no one in particular
So while ‘trainer x is crooked’ may well be construed as libellous ‘there are several trainers I believe are crooked’ can’t be
Personally I stand four-square behind Cormack and Co in this matter; the owners of a public message board should not be held accountable for what that public write.
Too many on t’net think they have free rein to defame whoever they want and whatsmore seem to believe cyberworld provides immunity from the law
It doesn’t, nor should it
Didn’t see your post Ken, so that’s not aimed at you
February 21, 2012 at 14:39 #21054Barney Curley gets paid,finally.How about that!
February 21, 2012 at 15:16 #392801Ridiculous it took this long. Gamble landed fair and square.
" How dare you make money from us !! We’ve only made £200m this year !!! WE RULE RACING !!! "
February 21, 2012 at 15:24 #392803Delighted for him. Disgraceful that the person the government sold the Tote to held off paying for so long.
Three cheers for Barney. Anybody who makes a mockery of the system like Barney, Ferdy and co do is fantastic for racing in my book.
February 21, 2012 at 15:28 #392805YES! FOUND IT!
February 21, 2012 at 18:51 #392851They don’t like it up ’em that’s for sure.
February 21, 2012 at 19:00 #392852YES! FOUND IT!
What a tiresome self-publicist.
I’ll leave you to decide which one (or more) of that trio I mean.
Mike
February 21, 2012 at 19:03 #392854Barney is alright, but he’s also a hypocrite. I don’t mind him sticking the fingers up at the bookies, but he should be the last person to call anyone a ‘take out merchant’, as he has been a take out merchant from racing since he’s been involved in the sport. I will harbour a guess – and it is a guess – that he has taken millions more from racing than he’s contributed. One banana, two banana, i think Curley can probably afford to buy his own Island full of banana trees. I will need to get his book, as he is someone i do respect a bit.

As I understand it all the proceeds of his coup will be going to the longstanding charitable project he established many years ago in Africa
