Is there any kind of performance ROP can give tomorrow that would mean the Supreme was favoured over the Neptune?

If Rite of Passage bolts in tomoro 4/1 would look superb value. 2/1 probaly after the race if he hacks up….very good test for this novice

Flat Out is making his debut over hurdles tomoro for Willie. A good bumper horse he could be interesting but i dont like Emmet Mullins one bit as a rider.

VERY impressive. 2.4 miles looks ideal, looks a banker to me

Different Gravy….didnt take prices on Betfair for the Ballymore as D K Weld was very in and out about what the plans are.

    No Doubt now.

"It was a satistactory performance but that’s as far as I would go," said Weld afterwards.

"He found the track a little bit tight. It’s only his second run over hurdles and the reason for bringing him here was to experience the undulations. It took him time to get use to them – which he did.

"That would indicate to me that we’ll let him take his chance in the Neptune, the 2m5f novice hurdle at Cheltenham. That’s likely to be his next race.

"He wasn’t spectacular or over impressive but he did it nicely. He’s a big horse, 16-3, and the inside track was a bit tight. I think a more galloping track would suit.

"I have the highest regard for Dunguib. At present he’ll go for the Neptune. If Dunguib went for the Champion it could change but at the moment that’s the way I see it."

Just watched Rite Of Passage back and given the nature of this race hard to believe bookmakers were falling over themselves to cut him for Cheltenham. I would wonder about his slightly ponderous jumping style in a fast run race on quicker ground. He is a short price primarily on his impressive win on the Flat and it wouldn’t surprise if it is in that sphere where his future really lies.

Couldn’t agree more about his jumping. He looked very big over a couple and quite awkward at others. He didn’t seem to improve when the pace quickened either, and for me, 5/2 is a very short price. However, is he likely to be like Dunguib and just have to naviagte the hurdles and then win as he likes? I fear not, but I’m mostly worng about these things!

Very impressed by Flat Out though. He jumped very nicely…

Thought Finian’s Rainbow looked a real contender today and took a bit of Paddy’s post-race 10/1. For me he jumped a lot better than Rite of Passage did the other day and I still rate his Newbury defeat of a flat-out Sereth as useful form.

Agree carv’ but heard something on RP site that he might miss Festival and wait for Aintree…strange if true.

I was hoping to see him in the Coral Cup entries, Carv, but expect his handicap mark is thoroughly shot to bits now. Agree he has a big chance if running in the Neptune.

I’d be pretty sure Robbie Mac will be riding yes.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a shock in this race with the front four in the market all potentially vulnerable. I think you could argue stamina limitations for Rite Of Passage, Finian’s Rainbow and Peddler’s Cross and despite the support Quel Esprit obviously needs to step up markedly on what he showed last time.
