What is the correct pronunciation of this horse’s name? Every time the horse runs it gets called different things by different people.
"Back o the cue"
"Back o tek"
Anyone got any idea which one it is supposed to be?
August 3, 2014 at 02:53 #487410Reminds me of Xaipete.
Phonetically, he was "Zay-pe-tay" but according to his smarty pants owners, his name was pronounced "Cross-eye-Pete"
Similarly, there’s an internet tale about some poor girl called Le-a whose name is pronounced "Ledasha" because the dash don’t be silent.
Bachotheque really should be "Bak-o-tek" but it’s probably "Back of the queue"
Sometimes, owners will abridge names to circumvent the naming regulations but in the instance of Bachotheque, this really is unnecessary since the limit is eighteen characters.

What angers me most about this situation is that Bachoteque isn’t even by Bach.
August 3, 2014 at 07:58 #487417The sire’s name Chineur means ‘bargain hunter’ in French which could be someone at the back of the queue
back/bark o tek sounds very ugly
Probably bacching up
le

August 3, 2014 at 08:29 #487419That’s spot on Drone and how the owners want it pronounced

There was another one yesterday, I thought quite a simple one Hoofithully from the same owners (Lee Westwood & Co) as Hoof It, obviously pronounced Hoof It Hully but the presenter on RUK proceeded to try to call it Hoo fithully
