AOB always says his horses are better than they are, Mike.
Value Is EverythingJune 16, 2022 at 16:47 #1602538Dettori said the run didn’t cost him the race. He said he had the time to get them if his horse had younger legs but the first two kept going.
June 16, 2022 at 16:49 #1602539Argh. Frankie was so worried about being boxed in he took a detour around the whole field, meanwhile the winner has flown and the horse who was sitting behind Strad turning in saunters straight up the rail for fourth.

That’s not my pocket talking, just my heart.
Edit: didn’t cost him the race? Sorry Frankie, but if he’s not as fast as he used to be, don’t give him so much to do.
June 16, 2022 at 16:54 #1602542Not quite sure i would use the would ‘always’ Ginger. ;o)
Both horses under 2-1 in the betting for AOB have won at the meeting so far btw.
June 16, 2022 at 17:07 #1602547The early pace or lack thereof was what did Strad in as turning for home he was trying to quicken past quickening horses – one might argue that him having horses to chase down would have been what Frankie ideally would have chosen and if they had gone a stronger gallop his superior stamina may well have seen him pick them up.
Felt the winner is value for more as he was being quite firmly pushed along prior to turning into the straight well before the 2nd and 3rd and you felt Mojo would be a little quicker up the straight and whilst I think Mojo stayed the trip the winner outstayed him and won on merit.
Looks like Dettori is going to have one of those weeks where nothing has gone right – as he has just failed to get up on the Quuen’s horse in the Britannia.
June 16, 2022 at 17:13 #1602549A strong pace would have suited Kyprios better as well. The race did not play out perfectly for Stradivarius but the best horse still won.
June 16, 2022 at 17:19 #1602553Mojo star did that on his first run of the season
So if him and kyprios clash again it’s far from a foregone conclusion
June 16, 2022 at 17:23 #1602556Lets hope the first three all turn up for the rematch at Goodwood and if we get a bit of ease in the ground we can add Trueshan to the mix as well.

First run of the season though. Entitled to blow up a bit in the final strides. Astonishing to think that his only win (so far) was in a £8,000 maiden!

Got my ticket so really hoping this is the case!
June 16, 2022 at 17:29 #1602558You’re as bad as AOB, Mike.LOL.
AOB has had one listed winner…
…And one where he was lucky to win and all from a massive stock of top bred animals… And that Group 1 again by Champion sire Galileo.Tuesday their only Classic of the season so far another both by Galileo and lucky to win.
After this week “The Lads” will be even more worried their days of dominance being numbered.
They may have to buy their way out of trouble and buy a top stallion. Sea The Stars?
Value Is EverythingJune 16, 2022 at 18:10 #1602568I’d like to see the winner in the Cadran on soft ground; we’ll know then how good he is.
June 16, 2022 at 18:14 #1602573We might find out how slow he is in the cadran Andy
Maybe not how good he is
June 16, 2022 at 19:44 #1602585Ride of the week so far on Kyprios for me, think he made the difference.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Frankie hangs up his boots in the next few months, he’s had a great career and he’s always been King at Ascot but time waits for no man.
June 16, 2022 at 19:50 #1602586Agree Yeats. He has had a few iffy rides in big races in the last fortnight. I just wonder if Gosden might decide he needs a younger jockey now.
There is a ton of pressure on Dettori in tomorrow’s Coronation Stakes on a filly who is coming back after a setback.

Also agree. Maybe a bit premature to write him off after a couple of poor days but pressure is really on now and we’ll see if he can cope. Just hope he doesn’t turn to TV….

June 16, 2022 at 20:22 #1602595Ryan Moore picked up a 2 day ban for careless riding after drifting over and squashing out Princess Zoe.
Yet again John Gosden seemed unhappy with the way Dettori rode
