Err, they’ve been loading up to 40 into the stalls for the Cambridgeshire for years.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 22, 2021 at 20:49 #1568615Without wishing to disrespect the Cambridgeshire, it doesn’t really compare to the fraught atmosphere before the start of the National!
November 22, 2021 at 20:50 #1568618Cambridgeshire flat horses want to get on with things; they need to have a lot of enthusiasm to go the pace of a 1m1f flat race.
In the Grand National some will be ok, but half the field will be half asleep. Put them in 40 stalls and by the time everyone is ready… “And they’re off”, well some will be. Some will just stand there in the stalls.

It might be an unusual experience for them, given that they are used to locking up people instead of being locked up themselves.”
Haha, brilliant Cork All Star!
November 22, 2021 at 20:52 #1568620I was ready to let it go, but VF just had to chip in and set me off again….

I’ve always had the view that the National runners tend to get revved up by the atmosphere generated by the crowd and their riders, and doubt there would be much risk of many of them being caught napping at the start.
But it’s still a no to the starting stalls!

November 22, 2021 at 21:16 #1568630Luddites the lot of you!
It’s been an entertaining debate, though, and I’m loving the footage of Jump racing with stalls from overseas.

Other more laid back individuals will fall asleep in the stalls.

Turn it up loud!
