I love the front two in the market, both two of my favourite jumpers of recent seasons. I won’t favourites either one though, and hope the fill the first two spots
For an interes during the race, I’ve taken 100-1 ew on Heltenham
February 14, 2026 at 14:25 #1754700I’m on Heltenham to for a bit of fun
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 14, 2026 at 15:45 #1754740Gutsy from Jonbon.
Though Barry Connell won’t have been impressed ;o)February 14, 2026 at 15:48 #1754744What a brilliant horse Jonbon is.
Another horse Nicky’s been over cautious with in stepping up in trip. You can hardly complain with the many G1’s he’s won but he most likely would’ve won a King George or two.
The Queen Mother at the Festival was always a yard too fast for him also. I’m not so sure he truly hates the track.February 14, 2026 at 15:53 #1754746I have always felt that Pic D’orhy wasn’t a true G1 horse and the heavy weather Jonbon made of beating him today makes me feel that Jonbon isn’t quite as good as he once was.
Jonbon had to be really brave today and it was his superior stamina that won the day as he was pulling clear close to the finish (even after Nico lost his balance in the finish) – the Ryanair is clearly the race for him but he will likely be going into it off the back of two very hard races. He might be interesting for next seasons King George even though he will be 10 rising 11 by then.
With that all being said it was a magnificent race to watch, as the cat and mouse tactics played out pretty much from the off, with at times both horses looking to be jumping and travelling better than the other.
February 14, 2026 at 15:53 #1754747I’ve seen some great horses in my time, and I am so glad to still be around to see Jonbon. He’s a one-off in consistency, class, toughness and heart. I hope he recovers in time for the Ryanair, though that carries some doubt.
February 14, 2026 at 15:53 #1754748He might not be an all time 2 miling great but he’s a proper grade 1 horse, you’d give your eye teeth to own one like that. What a warrior. He’s won over £1.5m over fences now I think.
For a big gangly brother of the fragile Douvan, and a horse who was a bit stressy and neurotic in his youth apparently, you wouldn’t think he’d take that amount of racing and come back for more, but he does. He deserves some sort of lifetime achievement award.February 14, 2026 at 15:55 #1754750Horses for courses LD73.
Pic D’orhy may not be a great horse overall but similar to Cyrname. On a going day at his favourite track, he’s certainly top class.
February 14, 2026 at 15:57 #1754751Does he even go to the festival after that. That may just be one hard run too many for a 10yo before March.
I’d probably take him on in the Ryanair now.
February 14, 2026 at 15:58 #1754752Gutsy but that won’t help his Festival hopes , at Cheltenham he’s always a lay
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 14, 2026 at 16:01 #1754754Hopefully just sit tight and go for the Melling Chase again, or even the Bowl if they wanted to try to add a 3 mile G1 to his CV. I know I should want these horses to run in everything, but I kind of don’t.
February 14, 2026 at 16:22 #1754757What a brilliant horse, just got to enjoy him while we can
February 14, 2026 at 16:23 #1754760GM23 – don’t get me wrong, he is a very good (if not a little one dimensional) horse (especially at Ascot) but his two previous wins in this were not the strongest of G1s and when he has come up against the top G1 types he has been found wanting.
I have always viewed him as a strong G2 horse (a 6 time winner at that level) with the ability to win a G1 if the race cuts up a bit in terms of quality, fortunately for him, Ascot has this G1 race on its books and can on occassions throw up a weaker renewal which he has taken full advantage off.
There isn’t an owner out there that wouldn’t give their right arm for a horse like him with 15 wins from 37 runs under rules, win prize money of over £750k and total prize money breaking through the £1m mark after today’s gallant effort.
February 14, 2026 at 16:28 #1754763Agreed Green sidestep Cheltenham for Aintree.
The more I know the less I understand.
February 14, 2026 at 16:44 #1754767My word how i love this horse.
He has cheered me up no end on countless saturday afternoons.
I dont care one jot that he hasnt won at the festival, he’s a legend.

Agree with both comments. Jonbon is a top class, thoroughly admirable racehorse. From the moment he won his bumper in spectacular style to his victory today, he has given his all. His “expensive” price tag, which hung over him from the start, looks cheap now.
There is more to the season than Cheltenham and any attempts to downgrade him because he has not won at the festival are petty and mean spirited.
Most owners would have given anything to have a horse even half as good as him.
February 14, 2026 at 20:35 #1754788Can you imagine what Constitution Hill could have done if he had Jonbon’s constitution?
