Didn’t say he would, just that he is the only other genuine G1 performer declared and I think you can easily chalk his last run up to having an off day…….if he runs he is still the most likely one to give Shishkin a race compared to the other horses declared that mostly top out at G2 level at best.
February 18, 2023 at 17:01 #1636015Crickey some nonsense in here about Shishkin before the race. Maximum stake for me today. Ran well enough in tingle last time to prove the engine was still there just jumping errors stopping him finishing 2nd. Looked desperate for this trip. Easy he’s a legend

I think it’s called having an opinion and not being afraid to offer it before the race….
“Maximum stake for me today.”
….Whereas I think this^ is called aftertiming.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 18, 2023 at 20:30 #1636033Was 3rd to Edwardstone in the Arkle and fell when a clear 2nd in the Supreme….Shishkin’s last trip to Cheltenham was a ‘P’ but nobody is going to hold that against him.
As I said BL is likely to be his biggest threat if he runs but as to how much of a threat that will actually be will depend on how either turn up on the day – if BL goes to the QMCC, then Shishkin’s task is made much easier by his absence imho.
February 18, 2023 at 21:35 #1636039Blue Lord got overturned over at 1 to 5 in a much weaker race , I can’t find any form line to give him a chance here
February 18, 2023 at 22:19 #1636044WD winners!
Did not expect to see Shishkin back to his (very?) best. Now a clear favourite for the Ryanair Chase, but I will naively hoping he will race in the Gold Cup.
February 19, 2023 at 00:11 #1636058Not all races go according to the form lines – a lot of big names have been turned over in recent weeks and no doubt there will be more at the Festival too…..will be interesting to see after all the smoke has cleared just who was able to walk the walk or gallop the gallop so to speak.

Nothing worse than some gobshite who comes on giving it the big un after the horse crosses the line!
February 19, 2023 at 11:05 #1636112100% TC – though we might all bicker a bit at times, one of the things I love about TRF is it’s a mostly courteous environment where everyone can get off the fence, state a strong pre-race opinion, won’t be trashed for it if they’re wrong and will usually be congratulated (including by those who got it wrong themselves this time) for it if they’re right.
We’re not at home to rude Mr Aftertimer, thank you!

You got here in the nick of time sir, just an hour and a half after the race, and your confident prediction beforehand that Shishkin would win, saved me wasting any more money on Pic D’Ohry. Legend, I owe you a beer.
