I’m going Sat, not sure if I’m going members or grandstand, but fancy it’s gonna be a hot day, may
wear a polo shirt, chinos and deck shoes.

Are the Ascot rules re: dress as strict as they used to be.

    What’s the score thesedays?

I reckon there’ll be torrential downpours so take my advice Matthew by going dressed in green wellies or galoshers, an Aquascutum Navy Gabardine Mackintosh and a yellow souwester hat. You might stand out from the crowd a bit but at least you’ll keep dry.
Don’t thank me. That’s what friends are for.

Pop all your gear on, look in the mirror. If you look like a twat then you have the Ascot look perfect!

Do you not think you’d be better off going to a Saturday evening meeting at the likes of Doncaster, Matthew, where I’m sure you would feel much more at home and with like-minded folk?

Whilst we’re on the subject of lager louts, can I rest assured knowing that if any jockey puts in a "shocking ride" that you’ll be one of the first into the unsaddling enclosure to give them a piece of your mind?

Are you saying I’m a lager lout?
I saw you never mentioned that I was looking to top class racing aswell?

I’ve been to Donnie aswell, all good fun.

A few years back I got the train all the way down from Inverness to attend the Friday of the Festval of Racing meeting. I was wearing jeans as I reackoned if they were good enough for the grandstand at the Ebor they were good enough for Ascot in September. No way would they let me in with jeans..(smart ones I may add).

The silver ring is that way sir , the jobsworth smirked.

But I’ve come all the way from Inverness and the rest of my clothes are in London.

The silver ring is that way sir.

I ended up watching the racing on the beeb in one of the tattiest pubs I’ve ever been in not far from the straight mile start.

    Have a great day Mathew.
