    Yes,
That’s how a rainbow is made Hein

Up above the streets and houses, rainbow climbing high,
Everyone can see it smiling over the sky.
Paint the whole world with a rainbow.

All along the streams and rivers, shining in the lakes,
See the colours of the rainbow as the morning breaks.
Paint the whole world with a rainbow.

    RIP Geoffrey Hayes

Great Nathan, hopefully our rainmaking activities will help :good:

Rain or shine, Gosden should really make the right decision to run Cracksman here,
he had already screwed his derby prep and this should be enough of deciding wrongly..

It’s a shame they’re not stepping Jungle-in-the-Bungle up in trip for this. Perhaps it would be a fitting victory

He really should just keep quiet on the whole subject now as he is making himself a bigger idiot every time he opens his mouth.

    Not at all, LD.
There are very good reasons why Cracksman should not run in the Arc on genuine good-firm but run on that exact same surface in the Champion. As I outlined on page 9 of this thread.

Just because someone thinks a horse is at its very best on one type of going, does not mean it definitely needs that surface. Ground may be the most likely reason for Cracksman’s defeat last time, but there are other possible reasons. Temperament (increasingly lazy) I’d use appendages, coltish (naughty boy at Royal Ascot) and time of year (October could be his time). Only run as a two year old – October, best run last year – October, best run this year…

Also, Cracksman is able to run to a figure on good-firm (eg the performance when second to Poets Word at Ascot) that’s good enough to win some “Champion” renewals – despite not being anywhere near his very best. So why not run?

He simply can’t act on good to firm ground but we will run him on it if it comes up like that at Ascot regardless just because its his last race!!!!

That’s not what he said though is it, LD?
According to the Racing Post Quote:
“At the moment I think it’s very firm (in France),” said Oppenheimer. “He simply can’t act on that.
“Even if it’s good to firm (at Ascot) we’ll have to run there because it’ll be his last race.”

There’s a big difference between very firm and good-firm.

Many of us said that Cracksman should have run last year when conditions were perfect. There was always the danger that things might not pan out this year for whatever reason and that is exactly what has happened.

It is quite bizarre to me that a fully-fit, top class FLAT horse has been kept in his stable for pretty much the whole summer because of ground. Top class flat horses really HAVE to be able to act on quick ground. It’s Summer ffs!! The whole Cracksman story has been the disappointment of the season for me. He ran perfectly well against Poets Word over 10f and I am sure would have given them a race in the KG over the extra distance. So what if he had lost?!

Now we are in the insane situation where it looks like he will miss the 2 races that his owner nominated as the reason for keeping him in training! LD is right – there is a real chance we won’t see him again if Ascot comes up fast. It’s pathetic.

    Anyway. Rant over.

As big a fan as I am of Sea Of Class I can’t see anything beating the Female Machine. She is very special and will take all the beating. Waldgeist will run a big race too but won’t be quite good enough and Frankie will be leaping in the WE once more..

I am struggling to see anything beating enable however…….

I have backed NEUFBOSC each way at 50/1 as he seems to stay a mile and a half well enough and wasn’t far behind KG in his prep race

I backed at a high amount (for me) Cracksman at an average of 28 and laid off for an average around 20. Dont know if he will make it but knew he would be in the mix. Ground is currently good to soft if you could believe the French. They want it to ride good at the weekend but that band of rain might put paid to that yet.

Ive also backed Magical at 195 and laid off at 125, Neubosc and Hunting horn.

And yet, its Enable and Waldstein who I think will fight this out

    Spot on, Joni.

Oppenheimer must think Gosden is God. There’s every chance there will be some cut in the ground come race time. Officials are aiming at a stick reading of 3.3. The horse is reportedly working out of his skin. They could at least have paid the dec fee.

Not at all convinced that what the horse needs is coming back in trip now in the CS, despite the authority of his victory last year. He’d need Roaring Lion to miss that, I think, which doubtless Mister G will find some way of organising.

    This is some serious mismanagement!

I see that Kew Gardens has been removed from the betting on the Racing Post card. Do they know something we don’t or is it just another of the ever-increasing catalogue of errors on this site?

Enable for me now that the draw is announced. Can’t see anything to beat her. Buick is an interesting booking for Tiberian, who also has a good draw, so maybe worth an e/w quid or so. If they DO get significant rain, I might chance Nelson to hold onto a place from the lucky stall 3, even though he’ll be wasted as pacemaker again.

Lads, don’t you ever think the current best trainer in England has a notion of Cracksman’s ability and needs?

They obviously think Enable would slaughter him or they’d run both?

They were right to ignore the Arc last year, as Enable won easy, and Cracksman produced his best performance to date then as well in the CS….

Jack – how can you know if you don’t run? He literally hasn’t raced for months. So what if he gets beat? At least try! Anyone who has been on this forum for a while knows how much I admire JG but I’m afraid I find this completely unsporting and very disappointing.

Like i said earlier i seen this coming, If he was trained by someone else, or if enable wasnt in the yard, he definitely would be running in this, the reason for avoiding this because of ground does not cut it, yes he may well bomb out and it might ruin him for champion stakes BUT
his stallion fee due to all of these excuses in regards to ground will be taking a fair dunt, hes already became more unnatractive because of that primarily and secondly his attitude to racing as he got older has got worse, apparent temperament issues etc,

Hes being aimed at the champion stakes again purely for stud value but i believe AO has made a massive error in doung so for the above reasons

There was more positives to let him take his chance in this arc than there was to not in regards to stud value, another champion stakes is not going to increase it more than it already is and i doubt AO cares about anything other than that at this point,

They should have let him take his chance. A fine 2nd in this would do more for the cv than another champion stakes IMO

But ultimately, Frankie and JG leaning on AO about running them in the same race against enable has swayed the outcome.
