That put me out of my misery anyway Old Applejack. I went back through the 88 to early 90s races trying to find one owned by Edgar or Georgie Bronfman who ran Seagram at the time but didn’t have that formbook to hand at home last night.

Is it Azucar winner of the inaugural Santa Anita Handicap in 1935? Also had the distinction of finishing 3rd to the mighty Seabiscuit in the 1936 Governor’s Handicap, Seabiscuit’s first ever victory.

That is funny, Azucar obviously had a lot of character. However it has reminded me of some awful fottage of the American Rodeo a friend showed me on youtube the other day. I wont post links as it is only for the very strong viewer. However as you are American Miss Woodford I wondered what your thoughts are on the rodeo? Is it as cruel as some of the youtube footage suggests (horses being forced to walk from the stadium with two broken legs) or is this a stitch up job.

SHARK (the main anti-rodeo group) is worse than PETA when it comes to animal rights insanity. Bucking horses are among the most well-treated and well-regulated of equine athletes; they work less than a minute a year, live out on huge pastures, and are bred and born to buck. There are bush league rodeos that are pretty bad(just like there are bush league racetracks) those shocking bits of found footage on Youtube are generally not from professional rodeos in the United States (and if they are they are out of context/doctored)
