Which Cheltenham Festival winner of the 1980s lent his name to a subsequent Epsom Derby winner?
February 5, 2013 at 00:23 #428564Galileo
February 5, 2013 at 00:44 #428565I think you’re thinking of the Polish bred Galileo that won the 2002 RSA hurdle. If so then I’m afraid that’s not the answer I’m looking for.
February 5, 2013 at 00:57 #428568Really should read the questions properly

February 5, 2013 at 01:22 #428571It happens to the best of us so I’ll let you off

There was a somewhat decent Roddy Armytage jumper from the 80s called Galileo who, by a remarkable coincidence, was sired by a Fantastic Light. I was worried for a moment that that particular Galileo had won a festival race that slipped my radar but fortunately, my blushes have been spared.
Actually, there could have been a question for this thread in there…
Back to you.

Which horse, if he had won The National, would have resulted in the winning owner presenting the trophy to themself?

Smart Tar
owned by the Courage family!
February 5, 2013 at 20:55 #428630Nope, not him Gord, he was running a big race though when he unseated.
February 5, 2013 at 23:39 #428647Paris Pike. Owned by Mr and Mrs Ivan Straker who was boss of Seagram, which owned Martell.
February 6, 2013 at 00:10 #428649Not Paris Pike Adrian.
February 6, 2013 at 01:05 #428656The Tsarevich?
February 6, 2013 at 07:05 #428668Not The Tsarevich Wyldesyde
February 6, 2013 at 08:42 #428671It wasn’t Devon Loch by any chance? Queen Mother might have been invited to present the Trophy?
February 6, 2013 at 09:41 #428676Not Devon Loch Rob.
February 6, 2013 at 10:51 #428682Fair enough although I’m know that Ivan Straker would have been presenting the trophy to himself – or at least his wife!
February 6, 2013 at 18:05 #428713Adrian, I thought about Straker when posing the question, but I’m sure Patrick Martell was doing the presentations by the time Paris Pike was running.
Wyldesyde, I thought Mrs Straker was doing the presentation during his involvement with the race……………..however if I’ve ballsed the question up apologies to all. Wouldn’t be the first time…
…..and probably won’t be the last.
Clue is Seagram though, and the horse I had in mind ran during there sponsorship.
February 7, 2013 at 07:34 #428742Is it Georgiana Bronfman (sp) who owned Drumlargan in 85/86?
