I don’t take jockeyship in to account as much as most punters

Next we will have betlarge saying he has been listening to trainers.

I’m no expert but the horse was pulling hard early on, I’ve never ridden a horse but would it be better for the jockey to try and get control gradually rather then trying to choke the horse to death with both arms locked tight?

In my opinion Nathan, there are far more important aspects of form than who the jockey is. Best jockeys attract money. Even when allowing for AP, Ruby and Barry being (imo) the best three NH jockeys we’ve ever had – their mounts often go off shorter than they should be just because they are who they are.

Of course some horses get on particularly well with one jockey and every race is different. However, going/distance/pace (stamina/speed), trainer form and temperament are all (imo) usually more important than jockey. Add jumping ability and draw when appropriate.

Surely though JJM, in this case we are not judging Andrew against Barry or Ruby, but Harry… A conditional jockey.

Given the choice between the two – I’d rather have the conditional with or without the allowance.

Would agree with you there, the more I think about it, the poorer I think Tinkler is. Nico De Bonville and Jeremiah McGrath both excellent value for their claim from the yard.

Totally agree JJM, particularly the former.

Although must say, Tinkler did me a favour in the "Whitbread".
