It’s good to be back
September 9, 2013 at 12:46 #450693As for my
Almuhalab
, I think as far as a Guineas proposition he’s out of the picture. I watched his debut a couple of weeks back with keen intrigue. The initial market support offered promise, and apparently the Sheikh was at Newmarket that day especially to watch him, more promise. Watching them going in I was staggered, literally, as a more beautiful looking 2 year old you will not see. He looked heavily built in all the right areas and looked an absolute bull of a horse. Although he travelled well initially he threw in the towel towards the end finishing down the field. Charlie Hills said beforehand that he’d need the run and that was evident. I do think he’ll be a name to watch as he progresses as, aside from anything else, he looks a monster. All the positive vibes from the day can’t be that far from the truth and I’m certain he’ll develop into a top 3 or 4 year old, but admittedly it looks like the Guineas will come a bit soon for him next year.

Australia
, as impressive as he was in going past a horse that wasn’t at his best and even being ridden out fully, he’s not even the best horse at Ballydoyle so he won’t be winning the Derby.
Indian Maharaja
is the chosen one and given the fact that the sounds coming from Aidan O’Brien indicate that he’s still the horse being lined up for the RP Trophy, the eventual destination for what is generally his number one, I have no reason to believe that they think otherwise.
Having said that……………..

Yikes!
September 9, 2013 at 16:49 #450710Boz any thoughts on AUSTRALIA as you know he my horse for derby very good at weekend.Only doubt i got ladbrokes 8/1 for derby but 6s in 2000 guineas i rather see him in a derby trail than taking on KINGMAN and WAR COMMAND at Newmarket.

He did look good Darren there’s no denying it and if I was sat on 20 or 25/1(whichever it is you have) I’d be feeling pretty pleased myself. I’m a wee bit sceptical however over just what it was that we saw.
Free Eagle
has a lot of potential and Dermot Weld’s been keen to downplay his charge this year, saying he’ll make a better 3 year old, something I agree with entirely. Once he’d been passed on Saturday he wasn’t asked too many more questions and in the end Pat Smullen was pretty lenient on him. There’s definitely more to come from him I think. It all seems a lot of hot air with this
Australia
and I’m as yet undecided Darren. I’m sticking to my guns with
Indian Maharaja
as he, to me, looks a fully rounded Derby type, and should he take his place in the Racing Post Trophy I’d expect him to prove himself there.
As for this
Kingman
, please Darren don’t EVEN get me started. He has no chance whatsoever of winning the Guineas, none. How he is as low as 7/2 is absolutely ridiculous, sheer lunacy. There are people who say Gosden can’t get one ready in time, well whether that’s the case or not he won’t be winning it with this one. Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw him dropped in trip as well. He doesn’t look a properly balanced miler to me and given the way he travels in his races, a stiff 6 or 7 furlongs could be his game. A group 1 winning miler however
he is not
September 9, 2013 at 17:29 #450712Boz when AUSTRALIA passed Free eagle at weekend i think Smullen felt he was not going to catch him which i why he was not that hard on him.I think FREE EAGLE be a better at 3 too but will he be good enough to beat AUSTRALIA who be better over the same middle distances trips as him i doubt it.Hope AUSTRALIA go to Doncaster next myself be intresting who they feel be there top derby horse next year.

To watch it back Darren I’d have to be honest and say I don’t think Smullen was hard on him at any point, something that leads me to think that perhaps they underestimated your lad and that Weld and co. probably thought they could basically go there and give him a glorified racecourse gallop and put him away for next year as undisputed Derby favourite. I’m certain however he’ll be a far better animal next year and should not be written off just yet. You could be right Darren,
Australia
could build on that run and it could all be as clear cut as it seemed on Saturday afterall, but for me something just doesn’t ring entirely true about it all and I’m not sure he’s the real deal just yet.
September 9, 2013 at 17:40 #450715You have so many bets on the go. Betting online makes it so much more enticing. Not much happening here, Boz. I’ve got like Gosdens for the Leger, Flintshire for the Arc and Telescope for next years King George. The less i watch racing, the more it appeals.

Good to hear from you Wolf. There is plenty on the go from my side, but with the new move finances are slightly tighter and the slimmer stakes and more sporadic betting will show that
I can’t wait for the jumps to kick in though. I’m off to Headache Park at the end of November for the Betfair Chase, Mrs Boz’s birthday present to me is to keep my wallet in use throughout the day
September 10, 2013 at 09:54 #450768Mrs Boz must be quite shrewd if her present to you is letting you spend your own money. I think she has cottoned on to the lack of winners in the vicinity. Just you start getting worried if she says ‘honey, i’m off to meet one of my friends tonight’, and her friend turn out to be a country bumpkin with ginger hair who takes her to ladbrokes during a powercut.

Right on cue, sir. I just finished a litre bottle of Irn Bru, believe it or not. Australia i believe is very impressive, and once again you took aim at the big prices early on. The form of his previous race wasn’t too shabby considering he had problems coming out of the stall. His win over Free Eagle was impressive in every way, and as you believe in the Ladbrokes conspiracy, they’ve cut him down to 4/1. I don’t know how you stake, but i wouldn’t put you off backing Indian Maharaj(if he is aimed at the Racing Post race) as a cover bet that would see you go in profit if either of them won the derby. I’m on Telescope at 12/1 for next years King George, and it’s a bet i wouldn’t put you off either.
September 10, 2013 at 18:40 #450819where betting for king george next year mate also i drink 500mls bottles of irn bru best drink in the world.Do you like it as well Boz

Darren its made from Girrrrrrrders!
You are supposed to be Scottish to drink it and I get the impression you are not from there???September 10, 2013 at 20:57 #450826I’m on Telescope at 12/1 for next years King George, and it’s a bet i wouldn’t put you off either.
Great minds think alike there Mr Wolf, it’s been running through my mind like Cheryl Cole’s rose petals that one! Not too sure about the price though, if I wanted to sink my hard earned on a horse that apparently fragile I’d be tempted by no less than 20/1. All the best with it though mate, I think it’s a great shout myself
