hi Sharpy,
well, yes we would like them to drift, 10’s I think would be nice…especially seeing as I won the princely sum of £34.70 on the Wolverhampton placepot Wednesday – whilst in attendance I might add – and along with about 20 others.
My main bet was My Mirasol

Wolverhampton has a terrific bus service.
I watched a little of the ST match between Mets/A Braves this evening, just to keep in touch….I was quite impressed with the former….this I know will alarm you

catch up later
March 28, 2008 at 18:41 #154320Hi Maggs….
Sounds like you had a great day out….
Hopefully, they won’t drift too much otherwise we’ll be in trouble and having to play catch up again…..

Thing to remember is, as its spring training, they don’t use their main players all the time. I had a look at the players who played that game yesterday and they are mostly reserves….
Its just like stretching exercises really….

3 days to go…..
March 31, 2008 at 10:00 #154683yeah, that ST is rubbish
…anyway, it’s here
…..just watching tape of that game last night, oh what a difference now it’s the real thing, almost like I’m watching a different sport compared with those ST’s….this is fantastic – I’m almost hooked!!!…lol.
great atmosphere, good shots of the ball park and informative discussions too, also the way they highlight the strike zone with a little square helps me a lot.
Poor Pres. Bush, got booed something rotten, I almost felt sorry for the man…and the look on his face when he went out to throw the ball, you could see how angry he was, and a little incongruous after they all just sang the national anthem. I thought that gorgeous mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves was brilliant despite worrying she wouldn’t get to the highest notes…lol…she seemed so happy to be singing it too.
Ol’ Bush got interviewed during the match in the commentary box, and he made some good points. He’s a Texas Rangers man all his life, and his wife Laura was in the stadium watching the game and when asked if she was a baseball fan, he replied:-
"some of the best times of her life was with the Rangers"….. lucky her!
March 31, 2008 at 12:12 #154708Thats why I’ve hardly watched any of the ST games……its like a major Athletics meeting like the Olympics…….they’re not going to try and break any track records when they are in the qualifying heats…..just like Arod and the likes are not going to try and hit mega home runs each time…..they were pacing themselves……now its the real thing…
The good thing is, that the Yankees were averaging 7 runs a game compared to other teams who were just above 5, so the chicks who dig the home runs should be happy…

Yes, he was the owner or part owner of the Texas Rangers……they had a good team a few years back but won nothing….and they do like to put on a good show, with the national anthem and displays etc..
Less than 5 hours to go…….still thinking of whether I should have a bet on the game for old times sake…..lol
March 31, 2008 at 14:30 #154733…oh go on..be a devil

I dig the home runs too,.. but not sure I qualify as a chick these days Sharpy….
….that’s in age terms only you understand

see ya later
March 31, 2008 at 16:55 #154773Oh yes you are…….its Opening Day, so you’ll be a chick and I’ll be a dude for a day….LOL
LETS GO YANKEES!!
April 7, 2010 at 18:48 #288358Just stumbled across this after your post on the ‘French’ one – cool thread – though I admit I haven’t read it all!
Enjoyed many trips – have family out there and been lucky to visit some nice places…
April 7, 2010 at 20:20 #288381..what a beautiful picture…oh that sky !
Never been to Telluride, only Denver in that area. I liked Denver actually, I think I could live there for a year or two.
You’ve gone back a bit to get this thread back up…lol..
hope you like baseball

…oh what art?…when in Arizona did you visit Tucson? I’ve heard it’s nice. Lovely climate and all that.
April 7, 2010 at 21:31 #288398Liked the title to this! – not a fan of baseball – nor football too drawn out bit like the series Lost and 24!
April 7, 2010 at 22:40 #288417well I’m pleased you liked the thread title and that it caught your eye. I’m quite fond of the patriotic song it refers to besides the beautiful country.
There are some interesting posts on the first few pages, quite a few people here have been to some of those places you mention and I’ve enjoyed reading it back again. Some have travelled quite extensively and I always enjoy hearing about their travels.I sometimes look at Sedona on one of those live webcams they’ve got there and I see those red rocks.
Great you’ve been to Tombstone and Boot Hill, presumably you saw the Gunfight at OK Corral location?…
I love that old film.Just been reading about Sunset crater – interesting history as you would expect – thanks for the link.
How wonderful to be an artist, you must get to see some gorgeous landscapes. If only we could see a photo of one on here sometime, we could give our own opinions
April 9, 2010 at 18:08 #288970Hey – Mare – yes there are some interesting stories!
When did you last go or do you have any plans to go again?
April 9, 2010 at 22:56 #289079oh hi Zenjah,
thanks so much for those great links, they’re not one’s I knew of so I’ve added them to my Favourites as there’s quite a lot for me to look at, especially the Reynolds gallery.
I do love the jewellery too, I bought some, authenticated, while I was in U.S. [Rapid City].
The stuff the Haida do look the sort I would buy, I absolutely love the look of some of them.I’ve not been to that area or the southern regions where you went. Last time for me was 10 years ago, before 9/11 when travelling was still good fun.
Would love to visit the remoter parts of Arizona and New Mexico but I have a mortal fear of Rattlesnakes – I doubt I would get out the car
I note you went to Georgia and Alabama. Why…? if you don’t mind me asking.
April 10, 2010 at 18:22 #289333Cool – you like them!
April 10, 2010 at 19:10 #289367oh thanks again for the new link….this is making me want to go back…
You’re right, I’ve got some from that region. I bought a gorgeous Navajo turqoise and silver necklace and matching ear rings, quite similar to what I’m looking at on that site.
I like them because they really stand out and glint.
Not sure if I got them from Rapid City or a place in Wyoming. You may not have heard of Prairie Edge, they’ve got stores at RC and one down south in Albuquerque NM I think.Fantastic shop if you like this sort of thing, as I do obviously. Expensive and commercialised though but their bookstore and albums are second to none, for native art and music.
I might try post a few photos later on if I can figure out how to do it. Got a nice landscape or two that I’d like you to see and a couple other things. So hope you’ll check back in day or so and tell me what you think, but no bother if you’re busy

…that ‘Special’ better win…

April 11, 2010 at 18:38 #289695..this knife and pouch of Siouan design, made by Doug FastHorse of Pine Ridge, S.D…. the metal is made from an old wagon wheel…
…I doubt this would get past security scanners nowadays
…I should add, I do not intend to stab anyone with it
