Parts of Wyoming are just so wonderful.
I took this shot from, I think, about 10,000 feet up on the Chief Joseph Highway, [Route 296] through Wyoming.
So named after the Indian leader with some of his people, the Nez Perce, rode through the pass below when fleeing persecution en route to Canada [1877].
The Nez Perce were noted for their Appaloosa horses, as they still are today.

It was baking hot below in the valley, but snow still lying right behind us…
I hope you like it :)

Is this perhaps where Perce Rock gets his name, Margaret?

My folks head out to the land of the free on Monday – volcanic ash clouds permitting. They have a week in San Francisco, followed by 10 days driving around the Southern states before landing with the relatives in San Antonio, Tx. They have a fortnight there, before flying to Washington, DC for a week’s sightseeing.

I’m a bit jealous to say the least, and I’m not particularly happy that they appear to be shooting-out my inheritance on a series of holidays. This is their fourth trip away since both retired in September, the selfish bastards.

lol !!..that did make me chuckle… you’re very naughty

..goes without saying I’m envious too, well, obviously we wish them a safe journey and happy holidays…
hopefully there will be no spewing ash to get in the way…

would love to see any photos.

Sadly, old Perce Rock not doing quite so well these days, he seems to have gone off the boil.
Named after rock formations near the St Lawrence River in Canada, apparently :)

….I got that off Wikipedia :)
