As I can’t make Southwell today or tomorrow, I’m giving the analysis a miss. The sandpit is too market-led at the minute and I’ve got used to the paddock as a guide.
Wolverhampton.
18.20 Good luck, Rocket Ruby fans! 7/4 about this one? You must be kidding. Have you seen her run? ROFL.
18.50 Visored first time, from a resurgent stable, 13lb lower than when 2nd to Roman Republic at Doncaster, and in a ropey race first time on the Polytrack, Striker Torres is no 20/1 shot. The Smart stable once considered this a decent animal 11/4 (FTO), 11/2, 5/2 (punted), 9/2 and 8/11 were his first five SPs. Then, in common with most of the stable horses, he went off the boil. A knocking Each Way bet.
19.20 John Best, another resurgent trainer (4/14 in the last fortnight), ventures up to the Black Country from the emerald plains of Kent with Bollywood Style. Trip too short last time: perfect tonight and still handicapped to win.
19.50 More laughter.
20.20 Kirsty’s Lad showed signs of life last time. No weight to carry and a shocking race. 22/1 in places each way.
20.50 Dabbers Ridge was third in a massive race off 102 once and runs off 59 here. He has won off 80 since and is from a resurgent stable. The trip and surface are huge worries so stakes are pitiful. I love Mandy Rowland’s horses and Hi Spec has to have an equally pitiful fiver thrown at it this evening. Ran well last time.
21.20. Hahahahahahahahahhahaha.
Best of luck.
PS: I noticed the Life last night tipped Mezuzah at Southwell at a massive price for a Miss J Foster. I’ll be interested to see how this one runs.
December 11, 2009 at 11:19 #263340The 9.20 at Wolverhampton is a puzzle but can see the classy Nanton as a good bet at 4/1, goes at the track and on a feasible mark of 97, and Alpen Glen each way material at 16/1, will give it a good go from the front again and has won over 1m6f so is stamina laden for this, although I would prefer Joe Front run Fanning in the saddle.
December 11, 2009 at 13:10 #263360140S Golden Dixie should have enough to beat this lot although if Woodcote behaved he could cause an upset
215S A reproduction of his last run should see Sherjawy home. Bold Rose could run well at a big price

5.20 Nuit Sombre 20/1
5.50 King of Rhythm 7/1December 14, 2009 at 22:17 #263888I’m planning a trip to Southwell on the 22nd. Anyone else from this thread attending?
December 14, 2009 at 22:18 #263889Colorus @ 11/2 or better
Watch in market Bel Cantor and Flash McGahonDecember 15, 2009 at 08:22 #263913Southwell 1.40 – Xpres Maite
Southwell 2.10 – Resplendent AceDecember 16, 2009 at 12:21 #264070Sunbury Stakes
Himalaya, absolute stonking bet @ 7/1 top price, even 6/1.
December 16, 2009 at 12:28 #264073Agree that Himalya is a solid ew bet, but prefer Dohasa and Dunelight in this – maybe a tricast?!
December 16, 2009 at 15:19 #264102My form at Kempton is rubbish so I’m sure the ones below will confirm that admirably
720 Croix Rouge EW
750 Lyrical Intent EW
850 Mustakmil
920 NativityMight just risk a little tricast in the last on Nativity, Sonhador and Sweet Kiss
Good luck to all
December 16, 2009 at 15:37 #264106Dunelight has a bit to prove on the back his last run I think, looks too short for my liking. Dohasa is solid but he’s been knocking around this level for too long and I’d want to get him beat as it stands, Himalya I’m confident will turn out to be better than a rating of 100, faired well last time out, Jaconet got far to easy a lead and nothing landed a blow, finished well and he’s well worth a try back up to 7f.
December 16, 2009 at 16:11 #264113My best bet tonight has to be Grove View Star in the 7.20 – came an encouraging third on his British debut has month and previously had decent form in Ireland. 5/1 looks good.
December 16, 2009 at 19:30 #264148The Sunbury stakes is quite a decent race in an otherwise poor card (with the exception of the 8.50 race).
Fancy Ceremonial Jade for the Sunbury, doubled up with Life’s Challenge each way in the 8.50.
Ceremonial Jade is an All Weather horse. He ran his first race since May when behind Himalaya last time and with improvement likely and step up in trip and the fast pace (hoping Dunelight will lead this out) in his favour, then I am hopeful Ceremonial Jade will give me a run for my dough.
Life’s Challenge has only had 3 runs and could have more to offer back in a 3yo only handicap. He won first time at Ponte before running a sound race at Sandown behind Senses. Last time he ran down the field in an all aged Southwell handicap when he was behind early and that effort is probably best excused. He is back against 3yo’s here who are fairly exposed by and large and must have a decent each way prospects.
Double: Ceremonial Jade 8.20/Life’s Challenge 8.50 both Kempton
(@ 6-1 and 7-1 respectively – bog)December 18, 2009 at 15:09 #264382Ardent Prince tonight in the 8.20 at Wolverhampton I think, awful race but is on a lenient mark and has C&D form which is sometimes invaluable, good ew value to be had at 16/1.
