My arch nemesis Pawan runs in the 8:40 at Southwell Tues. By the numbers this is a straight shoot out between him and Rosin. If I back him he’ll find some way to lose.. If I let him run without my money on he sluice up. What shall I do?
June 4, 2007 at 22:18 #68079LOL, know what you mean Slippery, but I have always thought Pawan will slip in under the radar when no-one’s looking at a big price. I reckon you can afford to let this one go, sah! Pace, trip and Union Jack Jackson are potential problems. But best of luck whatever you go for.
June 4, 2007 at 22:38 #68080Thanks Max.. Typically I plough my own furrow, but this horse is an enigma for me. There is no other horse that I follow so closely and every time I see him in the declarations I’m drawn to back him like a moth to a flame.
Maybe I have a Pawan fixation or maybe it because he’s promised to deliver so many times.. As mugs like me shout in the betting shops up and down the country … is he the archetypical bookies horse? :o
I like you expect him to romp home giving me a big payday one day so I’ll take your advice and let him run without the weight of my money and get him next time..
June 4, 2007 at 23:29 #68081I too am obsessed by Pawan, and am not alone in thinking that this fellow would attract plenty of interest if ever going to the sales. I genuinely think he might be listed class!
I think he might win tomorrow, but really I’m still waiting for the day they announce a late jockey change…
June 5, 2007 at 19:46 #68082I don’t know whether you watched it, guys, but Pawan ran a lot better than the last time at Southwell. The pace of the race was all wrong, the trip no good and Annie is Annie, but the horse broke well and travelled well until the final furlong. There’s deffo a big priced winner coming soon.
Big surprise winner! Wouldn’t have backed that one with a crystal ball.
June 5, 2007 at 20:42 #68083Another from the same stable ran today namely Safranine who in the past has won at massive odds -could win sometime but when??????
June 5, 2007 at 22:31 #680843rd Pawan @ 7/2 (8½ lengths behind winner)
in touch, ridden along over 2f out, one pace final furlong opened 4/1 £1200-£300 thank gawd that was not my money on .. next time eh ..
June 6, 2007 at 23:29 #68085Absolution, nice spot on Safranine. I had an unlucky experience with this one when beaten bang on the jamstick at juicy odds by an unlikely Howling gamble two years back.
Won a Class 5 at Warwick in July last year at 16’s off 50. Now rated 45, this one needs 6f, soggy ground and a prominent pitch, (a good draw is essential).
Judging by the lucky bag of unsuitable races Safranine has been competing in to get down to this mark, I wonder whether Annie is aiming for the same race.
Legal Set ran reasonably well for her yesterday too, so don’t be surprised to see one of hers crop up soon at a sexy price.

July 5, 2007 at 19:46 #106257Any of you guys back Pawan tonight? I got 20’s.
Poor horse. So much ability and so little assistance from the saddle.
July 6, 2007 at 15:45 #106378Well, here we go. Safranine. Five and half furlongs, soggy ground, Warwick and 16/1 available. Won race twice before.
Can Annie make up for last night? This is her chance to make amends.
November 5, 2007 at 17:47 #123057Hi lads,
Who’s playing on the sand in the coming season? This was quite a fun thread last year and it should keep us catapedophobics happy until the Lincoln. I propose next Monday for the start date.
Anyone joining in?

Cheers
Max
November 5, 2007 at 20:04 #123095I’ll be playing along. Count me in.
November 12, 2007 at 12:40 #124374I like the chances of Halsion Chancer in the 2.50 at Lingfield today. Looked promising over course and distance at the start of the year but has obviously had his problems with such a trucated summer campaign. However I thought there was plenty to like about his reappearance, travelling strongly over a trip which is probably too far, still on the bridle turning for home but soom floundering kept on the inside rail.
Hopefully he’ll be able to track what looks sure to be a good pace with the likes of Bluebok, Financial Times and Silver Prelude all taking each other on.
November 12, 2007 at 15:23 #124391Good call David
November 12, 2007 at 15:37 #124394Yes just a shame about all the typos and factual errors. Still a winners a winner!
November 13, 2007 at 22:19 #124613Nice winner to start the new season, DJ.
