Augusta Kate had every chance against the 2/1 fav for this last time before crashing out and I can see her improving still for a further step up to 3 miles, she’s by Yeats after all. Assuming conditions are pretty sound at Cheltenham it’s also a note that she has form on a better surface whereas Death Duty has only ever encountered anything better than soft in his point to point days.
March 6, 2017 at 21:52 #1290237Just been watching some videos of Death Duty and starting to think this is the banker of the whole meeting… just looks like a serious machine.
March 7, 2017 at 01:52 #1290272There is no bankers in horse racing, unless you are TAPK and you know that West Approach wins this, I can’t oppose WA for this race as well, although Death Duty was my banker of the season for the long time… I think he already reversed form with Wholestone (both horses run at the same meeting last time). Death Duty can win this, but I prefer West Approach.
March 7, 2017 at 07:04 #1290275WA has not reversed the form with wholestone, ran at the same meeting in Different races
March 7, 2017 at 07:57 #1290279I have west approach at 6/1. Starting to feel it was a mug bet. Any thoughts
March 7, 2017 at 08:28 #1290287Must admit last night I was really confident in Death Duty…. then I watched a video of West Approach in it’s last outing behind the fav in the stayers hurdle… the tizzard horse looked seriously good… turning into a head scratcher this
March 7, 2017 at 08:37 #1290289Not a mug bet he has a chance and his price reflects that, for me i cant see him beating wholestone, dosent mean he wont
Beaten 3 times off him in a short soace of time, will do well to reverse that
March 7, 2017 at 09:42 #1290293A horse that refuses to be beaten is the major plus. West Approach doesn’t seem to win but for Death Duty this is a different challenge to anything he has faced before. I think he’s a worthy favourite but its far from a gimme..

I like Monalee. I think he will improve for better ground and could reverse the form with Death Duty as a result of the ground and extra distance. At the prices I think he represents a good each way bet.

DD is the class horse of the race for sure,a slog on possibly better ground might be too much to early on for him.
Like you say you want something that just battles on through and is winning or thereabout
March 9, 2017 at 20:22 #1290694West Approach highly likely to go Stayers according to trainer (owners’ preference)

Yep, saw that mentioned by someone the other night SC , out to 14.0 on BF now. 30.0 for the Stayers.

Another possible antipost disaster for me if West Approach dosen’t run in the AB.
March 9, 2017 at 20:57 #1290699Monalee looking more or less certain for this also. Out to 60 for the Neptune.
March 9, 2017 at 21:22 #1290708Sad for west approach backers but this is great news for me as backed death duty.
that’s the biggest danger out of the race if he goes for the stayers.

when was the last time west approach won a race?? (hes raced against a good few of these also)
March 10, 2017 at 06:30 #1290772This is the Tizzard quote in the RP.
“Will Thistlecrack’s half-brother West Approach run in the Stayers’ Hurdle?
Steve Allen
John and Heather Snook are very keen on it, so it’s very likely. All they worry about is the odds-on favourite Unowhatimeanharry – the rest of the field they feel he’s shown enough form to beat, so it looks a perfectly sensible choice. For me it’s a sentimental thing, with Thistlecrack having won it last year, and that’s they way we’re leaning at the moment, but it could change tomorrow if something happens to a couple of the top horses for the Albert Bartlett. He could still switch but the Stayers’ is the most likely option.”Only just caught up on this news thanks steeplechasing
