I’m very tempted to win and place lay the young pretender that is Sizing Europe as i think he is priced up via Osana’s Boylesports run, whereas SE’s Greatwood win is not good enough to take this imo
January 27, 2008 at 14:29 #138145I disagree entirely I think he’s priced up on the fact he has a touch of class is tough stays and looks the part…….we will know soon.

Having an opinion is good FOF, however, these can differ greatly where racing is concerned and beating a horse that was having it’s seasonal debut while getting 6lb and beating fairly exposed horses like Chivalry, Trouble at Bay and Pigeon Island does not say "Touch of Class" to me, i’m afraid
January 27, 2008 at 14:59 #138150That performance says a "Touch of Class"
January 27, 2008 at 15:04 #138152Yep I was obviously being thick.
I think we’ve just seen this years Champion hurdler.
January 27, 2008 at 15:04 #138153Well, the dogs barked right, but thought it would be sizing europe after his support mid week I never had a bet in the race but congrats to all who backed Sizing Europe.
January 27, 2008 at 15:08 #138154I never saw the race but VC bet and Betfreds have just trimmed him in to 5/2, must have been impressive…
January 27, 2008 at 15:08 #138155wanna buy a crystal ball?
Didn’t half win well and stupid head here never had a bet.
Looks a right bet at 12/1 for the Champion now and might even be favourite now.
January 27, 2008 at 15:16 #138156The poll Danny conducted got the race spot on and to the naked eye I would’nt be suprised if he’d just improved 17/18 pound on his greatwood run. There you go, chew on that.
Only a Pipe could do that type of thing but Osana will have his work cut out to get near this fella at th festival.
On first impressions, I would say that your not far off regarding the improvement marb and he looks the horse to beat now
Well done all those who backed him btw
January 27, 2008 at 15:18 #138157Congrats on getting on antepost for the champ hurdle FOF, just watched the replay on the ATR site, that was a demolition job…
January 27, 2008 at 15:26 #138161Must be the favourite for the Champion now- I thought post-race quotes of 7/2 were more than fair.
January 27, 2008 at 15:40 #138168the poll after the race was reading 12 people picked sizing europe and 34%. Its now reading 13 people and 34%.
Tutt, Tutt!!!
January 27, 2008 at 15:45 #138169Correction to amistype- it was reading 12 at32% then about 10 minutes ago 13 making 34%…

Thank you mate…..but that wasn’t the Champion Hurdle and he has only beat three horses that prior today were quoted at 25/1 for the big one.
Had I looked at it like that before the race I would have bet the horse today. I never had 2 brass pennies on him. AS I told you in my Pm Nevertika was going to be my only bet but as it turned out I ended up Backing JP’s first winner as well. Damn sure I wasn’t putting it on the AIG race could have gone any one of 3 ways. However and I suppose it’s a dangerous statement to make but he looked to me that he was different class to Hardy Eustace of old never mind new.
Bookies making him 3/1 fav Hmmmmmmmm!!!! stingy price (
I think that all todays race has proved is we have been going through a spell of bad Champion hurdle races. Something Pipes horse also pointed out. I have never hidden the fact I think Sublimity is a mole and won’t win, but this Katchit is the horse he has to beat now……..I still think he is the main danger. If he gets first run on them going down that hill he will take the world of beating.
Having also backed Katchit do I care which wins? I’ll stick to my original 1-2 but no way.
January 27, 2008 at 18:23 #138206FOF, would you not consider Harchibald a potential danger ?

Not sure where this thinking comes from
Straw Bear RPR 166
Harchibald RPR 166
Osana RPR 166and now Sizing Europe (probably a RPR of 165 – 170 ) have all put in performances that would see them going close in most of the recent Champion Hurdles
Add in last years winner and third into the mix and you have a well up to stratch Champion Hurdle
Nowt for Katchit in that field imo
January 27, 2008 at 19:20 #138216FOF, would you not consider Harchibald a potential danger ?
I think Harchibald is a terrific horse and was my choice when he threw it away a couple of years ago.
Unfortunately I think he will be run out of it again.
This has the look of a better Champion hurdle about it now……I can’t see any of the old School apart from Harchibald being any sort of danger but can’t imagine him running this horse SE out of it……..I wouldn’t try on put anyone of betting him EW and I single him out because he has this great ability to lye up with the best of them without coming off the bridle………horse would be a danger in any Champion Hurdle……if the others ran stinkers and all came of the bridle he could simply come home in his own time and wouldn’t know he had a race. I think that’s the only way he would win a Champion Hurdle but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he did exactly that.
