Looks like being a good race if all 8 declared run. So no sitting on the fence if all 8 run whos your money on ? <!– s8) –>
<!– s8) –>January 23, 2008 at 10:24 #137183I don’t think Sublimity will run.
Sizing Europe is an interesting horse. A horse with great potential, as they say. Won well at the festival last year, and one I have kept very much in mind. He’s my choice.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
January 23, 2008 at 10:41 #137191You could call this aftertiming, but it was in the Lays and Plays on Sunday, but Aitmatov must have a chance being one of the few who we know handles the ground. My huge band of followers are on at 10s…..
January 23, 2008 at 11:10 #137196Does the Sublimity that won last year’s Champion Hurdle even exist?
Seems to me that that performance can be put in the same file as Hawk Wing’s Lockinge and perhaps Tamarinbleu’s Victor Chandler.

Maybe it’s a ‘reverse bounce factor’?
All 3 runs are explainable with a little thought,
Tamarinbleu’s has already been covered in some depth, Hawk Wing’s was probably as a result of an easy lead throughout against out of form/over-rated horses, and Sublimity’s down to his sheer class on the day and in the circumstances?January 23, 2008 at 12:23 #137215You are easily satisfied, Reet.

January 23, 2008 at 12:25 #137216It’s all about Sublimity for me. He could go off as short as 7/4 come the day. No other horse interests me in this race.

Sorry Zoso, but I wouldn’t back him with someone else’s money for the AIG.
As with last year, connections have made it reasonably clear that the horse has the CH as his prime target, and whether he wins/loses or doesn’t even run this week would be of only secondary importance.
Imo, of course.January 23, 2008 at 13:00 #137230Obviously they only have the one "magic-potion" per season!

January 23, 2008 at 15:37 #137267I don’t think Sublimity will run and even if he did you’ld have to concerned about the ground anyway. He has won on Hvy before but he was 1/3f that day so you can’t say he will definitely be suited by it.
Al Eile is 1 win from 6 runs on Hvy ground so can’t have him.
Sizing Europe has won one race of any note and this was on Sft ground but he looks progressive and should be there or thereabouts on the day
Aitmatov goes for a Gr1 double and having won over 16f on Gd ground and 20f on Hvy ground, so the ground and the distance should be OK too.
Hardy Eustace needs no introduction and has to be respected although he has just turned 11 and Hvy ground may not be his ideal surface.
Lounaos ran a cracker in this last year as a 4yo and has had only the one ruin this season. If she is over her exertions as a juvenile, she could go close.
Ebaziyan or Silent Oscar have next to no chance in this ground
Aitmatov for me (thanks carvillshill) with Sizing Europe and Lounaos filling the places. Lounaos is worth an each-way bet now before final decs as the field may cut up before Sunday, possibly to only 5 or 6 runners.

Imo, of course.I misread the thread title. I was thinking Champion Hurdle not the AIG (even though AIG clearly stated). Sublimity is the only horse that interests me for the Champion hurdle, price is currently way too big in my view.
January 23, 2008 at 15:43 #137269Who is your money on?
Depends on what the prices are, could be any of them. Not going to get envolved ante-post so will wait.
If the question is who has the best chance of winning?
Sizing Europe.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 23, 2008 at 16:42 #137280Aitmatov.
His Fairyhouse Grade 1 victory on heavy ground has worked out well (Sweet Kiln, Ebaziyan and Glencove Marina have all won since). He will encounter similar conditions this Sunday and his defeat of Farmer Brown over the minimum distance in November indicates that the drop in trip will not inconvenience him.
He would prefer better ground, but he’s unbeaten this season and goes into the race full of confidence.
January 23, 2008 at 17:06 #137283Sublimity has now been taken out.

ColinNot at all, Colin.
You only see the duck swimming, only the duck knows how hard it’s paddling.
January 23, 2008 at 22:46 #137365I have to say that if you believe in the betting then it has to be Sizing Europe as he has taken a pounding in both this market and the champ hurdle market this week.
Im a sublimity fan though, and was hoping to see him here on better ground, so Ill be a spectator in this race.
January 24, 2008 at 20:01 #137499Don’t group the mighty Hawk Wing with that pair ………. his Guineas performance was equally stunning as was his first Pattern race win in record time at the Curragh!
