In for a penny in for a pound! Being a succour for punishment I thought I’d continue where ‘Gone Fishing’ left off, fingers crossed then here goes……..
The Chester Cup,I know its very draw biased but from the 45 entries on offer I have narrowed it down to 3. Never can Tell has to be on the shortlist purely for the fact he loves Chester, the handicapper has hit him hard but on a line through ‘Mount Athos’ he still looks leniently handicapped off a mark of 96.Being owned by Dr Marwen Koukash I would like to believe he’s been laid out for it,8/1 looks fair.
Zuider Zee is my 2nd fancy at 16/1,I have always liked this slowly improving sort and believe the step up in trip will bring further improvement out of him and my 3rd choice is Rambo Grants horse Kazbow at 33/1 he looks overpriced to me for a horse who again has a good piece of course form,I’ve seen him down at my local course several times now and granted a good draw could surprise.Ante-Post Loser £300[/color:13ness0d]
Never Can Tell £150 e/w 8/1 Corals Chester Cup.

Thought you were leaving us for a minute there Gord, goodbye Kingfisher and a welocme return to TAPK, hope he can behave!
As for the Chester Cup, think my old friend Overturn will be very tough to pass if he gets a decent draw, he’ll have them strung out early doors same as last year. He looked as well as ever at Cheltenham runnign a cracking 2nd in The CH, would like the ground to dry out a touch ideally but looks a cracking bet at 6/1.
April 30, 2012 at 12:56 #402572Hope you realise, although I voted for Kingfisher last year in the end of year poll; I won’t be able to vote for the cantankerous TAPK.
Value Is EverythingApril 30, 2012 at 13:18 #402574Au revoir KF unt guten tag TAPK
I like 3 in this race currently also however will wait a while before backing one.
Your
An outsider I am also considering isApril 30, 2012 at 18:08 #402591Good luck with new thread gord
What did you think of IMPERIAL MONARCH on saturday i been reading since a lot of people see him more as a leger horse than a derby one.I still think he get placed in the Epsom derby behind CAMELOT of course
And do you think like me that CIRRUS DES AIGLES will be beat FRANKEL if they clash at a 1m2 this year.
April 30, 2012 at 18:38 #402594Gentlemen,I am a team player these days,I feed from the crumbs off your tables in order to put bread on my own!
Sir des Champs
victory at Cheltenham epitomises our discussions and thankfully he ran in the race we said he would! The more I look at this
Imperial Monarch
the more I see Stamina,he already reminds me of
Seville
!! Enough said darren eh! I think
Camelot
is a certainty for the Guineas but will be beaten by
Parish Hall
in the Derby!
Parish Hall
£100 e/w 20/1 Sporting bet
£50 e/w 20/1 Ladbrokes The Derby,Epsom£600
April 30, 2012 at 19:11 #402597I agree on the stamina but do not compare him to Seville in both of his races he has been in mid div and come and win his races very impressive.I know he was more wider at weekend.I don’t know if you saw his maiden win gord.
Seville was a frustrating horse who kept getting 2nd i not heard any news on him.
April 30, 2012 at 19:47 #402602I’ve watched
Imperial Monarchs
Curragh maiden several times over the winter darren, you cant fault the manner of his victory and he certainly showed then that a mile was way too short. What concerns me about him is he hits the ground hard as does his stable companion
Kissed
,they both look like they will win the Derby and Oaks but it wont be the Epsom versions, more likely the Irish ones!
April 30, 2012 at 20:23 #402611A case of "Once more unto the breach dear friend"
I wish you every good fortune for the coming months.
Regarding the Chester Cup, I certainly wouldn’t discount the chance of Shubaat if he gets in. The stable are not averse to a crack at the race and he is still quite unexposed. I get the feeling they would have liked to have won at Ripon on Saturday to ensure his place. If that is the case then he must be very well-in so all he needs now is a bit of luck with the draw.
As your grammar consultant all I can say is definitely

Darling Eclipse, you wouldn’t question my knowledge of horses like i wouldn’t question your knowledge of the English language! BUT
ItsDefinately
not
Definitely
dear!
April 30, 2012 at 21:31 #402625My first long range Ante-Post wager is on the same horse I did at the same time last year for this years RSA.I’m doing him for the Gold Cup though this time!
First Lieutenant
is still a big baby,he has way more scope than the horse that beat him at the festival,
Bobs Worth
,good horse that he is.I have backed my fellow at 25/1 and 20/1 already but have also taken the 16/1 too,the price he currently trades at today.I counted 16 seperate wagers on ‘First Lieutenant’ after this years race,my first price on him was incredibly only 12/1 but because ‘Mouse’ spent the whole season ‘educating’ him he constantly drifted out to 25/1 so in I went again! I can see a repeat training programme for next year, running him over 2m last time really takes the biscuit mind.
Sir des Champs
is a very good horse he owes me nothing but around Cheltenhams 31/4m he will find
First Lieutenant
a tough nut to crack!
Calgary Bay
at 100/1 will keep me warm through the cold ‘Summer’ months too!
First Lieutenant
£100 e/w 16/1 Bet 365
£50 e/w 16/1 William Hill, Gold Cup,Calgary Bay
£25 e/w 100/1 Corals,Gold Cup.

May 1, 2012 at 08:08 #402643This afternoon we will discover whether gelding Teacher has helped him concentrate. On his perceived ability he should be thrown in on a mark of 45. Clearly the bookmakers are taking no chances but he has beaten one horse on 3 racecourse appearances thus far.

‘Percieved ability’ Eclipse? You are scraping the barrel when you have to put up a 45 rated horse that on 3 racecourse appearances has achieved Nothing and shown even less than that in ability! I can only guess that you are ‘Perceiving’ that because he’s owned by Highclere that he has any ability………..remember
Syrian
? At least with
Fury
who too finished last on his final 3 runs of last season,a good bit of form prior to those defeats was in the book so you know gelding him was going to have a positive effect and he has since proven he is a proper 100 rated horse!
Teacher
must have shown connections at least a glimmer to even contemplate keeping him in training but even if he does win today I cant see him getting in the ‘Hunt Ball’ Cup! Good luck if you’re playing at 5/2 Eclipse! I’ll thank you later for putting him up……….IF he wins!
May 1, 2012 at 09:40 #402658I wouldn’t back anything on this going! I am curious to see if the money that backed him on his Newbury debut will try to be recouped today. The price is obscenely short but that doesn’t mean he wont win.
May 1, 2012 at 11:15 #402664Hi Gord
Back from me hols last night and saw you had switched personalities again! Got the same creepy feeling running down my spine as when I first read Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde!
Best of luck with this thread – hope its half as enjoyable as the last one!
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 1, 2012 at 12:48 #402681Gord i also agree on him hitting the ground hard but so did your
WORKFORCE if you remember. If a horse has the class he could overcome fast ground.Any thoughts on the duke of york stakes as well.
May 1, 2012 at 14:29 #402697Eclipse……………………………………………..Words fail me! I’ll come back to you later!
Joni (Frankelstein) bake, good to hear from you! there’s every chance this thread will be half as good as ‘Prophet with an F’ but will be twice as good as ‘Gone fishing’,I cast my rod without caution on ocassions there! There will be plenty of Ante-Post big prices on here,Live by the sword and that eh?
Darren, you are quite right as per usualImperial Monarch
looks a helluva lot like MY 25/1 Derby Winner
Workforce
particularly their handsome heads with the white blaze, its asking a lot to live upto him though mate!
