    Popped into Wolverhampton this evening.
Nice the way that the Holiday Inn ties into the race track.
Food and Beverages, Food basic, Beer £6.85 (or close, didnt drink as was driving).
More Geese and Rooks than punters..
Nice set up, many old locals there for a night out £1 e/w types.
Enjoyed it, except Joe Fannings fall, horrible to back him and see that, he fell off after the winning line.
Hope its not too serious, but he didnt move for a while and was stretchered to the ambulance.
    Get well soon Joe..

I won’t be logging in until I’m back so I may as well say that I will be at Cheltenham tomorrow. Have a great day Landafar and anyone else who’s going. Hope the rest of you enjoy watching from the sofa, on mute on your phone, on a black and white TV through binoculars or however else you may be tuning in.

Well, the punting didn’t go so well but I had a good day nonetheless. It was definitely quieter than last year, still busy of course but there was a bit more room to move this time.

£7.50 for Guinness same as last year. Most single drinks seemed to be about that level. No idea about food prices, didn’t get anything.

I have arrived at a blustery Hexham. I had forgotten how steep the climb is from the town. I was on the bus and still felt exhausted!

Thanks ID. It was very enjoyable – even after Pipe’s odds on chance got turned over in the first. The winners of the second and third put me nicely ahead on the day.

I had only been to Hexham once before, about 15 years ago. I wanted to go back and had often thought of going to the meeting in Cheltenham week, so I decided to make the trip this year. Of course, prior to 2005 this was the supporting card on Gold Cup day.

I highly recommend Hexham to all National Hunt fans. It is a beautiful track. I had forgotten how undulating it is – a horse really needs to tough it out and stay here!

I very much liked how you can stand right by the rails and the finishing post. Not many other tracks let you get so close to the action.

All the Cheltenham races were shown on the big screen. Teahupoo got a big cheer from the crowd!

Dog lovers might like to know it is a track where you can take your four legged friend.

There is a free bus from the railway station up to the course. The beer drinkers union might like to know there is a good bar in the station, offering three cask beers from local breweries. I tried two and they were both good.

The only note of caution I would give is: if you are thinking of going this time of year, wear something warm. The track is at the top of a hill and the breeze is very cold!

£7.50 a pint is why I’ve haven’t drank in over 15 years , paying ott to slowly poison yourself seems a bit stupid to me , I’ll stick to my oj …. Chocolate and crisps

Glad you enjoyed it Cork, a much more serene affair than Cheltenham I am sure!

One thing I forgot to mention was that the touts were out in force on Tuesday, must have walked past the thick end of a couple of dozen. I have no idea how they make money given that even as late as four days ago Cheltenham were emailing offering the chance to buy more tickets. They must do or they wouldn’t be there, I’d love to know how.

Thanks Richard. Pleased to hear you enjoyed Cheltenham on Tuesday and it was a bit less busy this year.

I have only been to the festival once, way back in 1991. There were touts everywhere then, as there are at every Aintree meeting. Epsom on Derby Day usually sees a lot of them as well. As you say, it is clearly worth their time.

I forgot to say, when I first visited Hexham I walked up to the course from the town. Looking at how steep the climb is, I was obviously a lot younger and healthier in those days!
