She has not raced since last November, so I can only assume she is still injured. I can’t find details of any future entries for her.
Pity, because she looked to be out of the top drawer.
June 11, 2025 at 20:41 #1732753I went on one of our sighthound walks the other day and one of the women involved with rehoming ex racers said the kennels can’t cope with the numbers that are being handed over. Probably because of the ongoing threat to the sport.
June 11, 2025 at 21:34 #1732758The sport is as good as finished in this country. Swindon, one of the best tracks, is closing at the end of the year.
June 12, 2025 at 06:37 #1732778Here is the work in progress on the greyhound track, from a picture I took on Tuesday.
I suppose it will be like Dundalk, an all weather track with a dog track in the middle.
I am not sure if it will work. The crowd will be a long way from the track.
June 19, 2025 at 23:37 #1733955Tried Chelmsford today as a guest, my mistake ladies day very very busy.
They must be doing something right to get circa 5k people there.
Difficult to make a proper judgement on the facilities as there was so many people and there were ”special zones”.
Gary Wiltshire was there, obviously still haunted by Ascot
No ID required to enter and I came home with more than the Mrs let me take.July 5, 2025 at 19:27 #1735580I’ve just got back from Sandown, and I am currently deliberating as to whether or not this will be my last day at a major race meeting.
Although the Peaky Blinders brigade aren’t as widespread as was the case a few years ago, the prices charged for mediocre beer and mundane food are getting stupid. And, as always during the summer, it’s a very fine line between people having a good time and getting drunk.
Worst of all, though, is the bane of modern race meetings: loud music.
Do the people who organise these meetings not appreciate that thoroughbred racehorses do not need that nonsense? Not only does it annoy grumpy old (or middle-aged) men like me, but it does no favours to the actual stars of the show: the horses.
Get rid. 😡

The bane of modern sporting events generally I’d surmise, from those I’ve watched on the goggler: pause in play at Rugby Union matches, turn on the blare; likewise between overs at Cricket matches. Is it the same at the Footy?
The public realm generally has been infected by cacophonous muzak

Hogs Back used to have a stall at Sandown. Is that no longer the case?
I don’t like loud “music” playing on the racecourse either. It is bad enough at weekend meetings but I have even had to endure it at small midweek meetings sometimes.
Warwick used to have noise blaring out between races but it seems to have been stopped there now. Maybe they responded to customer complaints.
If all else fails, we can always sign up:

It may still be there, CAS, but I missed it on Saturday.
