If a race was arranged between the betting ring and the wedding ring the latter would be odds on to win in a canter. I missed York and Newmarket on Friday and Saturday was too busy a day. A fifty pound enticement allowed me the luxury of enjoying the whole eight race dirt programme in Gulfstream Park Florida come the evening. I was on an evening train last night and followed what I could of an eleven race programme there that ended around 11pm roughly the time I got back in. I had to forgo the heath and the mire once again and City of Troy is just history lesson to me.
I can snatch a bit of racing here and there but like Tinman there are so many pressures to overcome.

Hmmm – I was drinking in the Duke of York pub in the near vicinity of Victoria Station some fifty years ago when in walked Susan George with a group of theatre land friends and I listened agog and watched enthralled and suddenly was in the moment earwigging. George with her thick mane of blonde hair standing before me, mouth wide, nice set of teeth getting them energized about this and that, and a woman who was extremely violated in Straw dogs a film readily compared to Jim JTS’s favourite – the Clockwork Orange and filmed in the same year, and I didn’t see any comparison at all. One was a Klint the other could have come from the Gambols in the Daily Express ?I see Clockwork as the punk of cinema …. and Kubricks greatest piece

Even watching it on tv it looks absolutely beautiful! No doubt about it Autumn the best of seasons for weather and racing! Combine the two and you have the perfect day out!
