With Rail Link reportedly out for the season, it’s not looking like a good season for Andre Fabre.

He lost Hurricane Run and Shirocco at the end of last season, Visindar was retired a couple of months ago and now Rail Link has gone.

He’s only won 1 of the 10 G1s in France this season (Manduro).

Can anyone see any of his other horses picking up G1s this year?

    Steve,
Legerete, 3rd in the Marcel Boussac to Finsceal Beo last year, has won a G2 and G3 this year. In her first race this year she was some 3 lengths behind Darjina at Longchamp. She has an entry in the Yorkshire Oaks. I have no idea how likely she is to turn up but she might be in with a chance there. Both wins were over 12f on softish ground I think. Having said that, I am very much looking forward to the return of Alexandrova, possibly at York?

He had another French G2 winner with Quest for Honor, but it’s pretty slim pickings for someone like him.

He’s still leading the trainers championship in France, but it’s only by about 100,00 Euros.

Unless things pick up in the big races, I think this one will have to go down as a "quiet year" for him.

Indeed. According to France-Galop he won 112 Group 1s in 23 years from 1982 to 2005 including 76 in France, 20 in GB and 2 in Ireland. He also rode 250 steeplechase winners as a jockey and trained the winner of the Grand Steeple Chase de Paris four years in a row. Quite a guy!
