Silca’s Sister. Another Godolphin recruit. It will be interesting to see how she progresses.
March 1, 2006 at 10:54 #69064Opera Cape was my favourite two year old, game as they come and great turn of foot… If it strengthens and sees the mile out better I think a great e/w bet for the guineas
March 1, 2006 at 11:11 #69065I agree that the form was upheld from Longchamp to the Dewhurst, and seems to go on all sorts of ground. But whether he sees the mile out is the question, and Horatio was pulling away from him a furlong out in Paris when his stamina kicked in, and Opera had pretty much nothing left to give.
Sylvester Kirk said after winning a Group 3 at Sandown -‘He has five-furlong winners and two-mile winners in his pedigree so it is quite ambiguous, but we will certainly train him like a good one’
March 1, 2006 at 11:28 #69066Jim Bolger has a serious horse, possibly unamed yet but everyone will know about it before it wins. and it will win a classic.

Yeah, I loved watching Opera Cape last year. I think if the ground softens up (unlikely), he would be a major contender for the guineas.
I think he could well stay more than a mile.
I wonder where he is in the godolphin pecking order though?
March 1, 2006 at 11:58 #69068I didn’t even know it had gone to Godolphin… I don’t know who they have bought in the close season but they had real 2yo of note did they?
Gman, is the horse unnamed or are you just not telling us? or is it another one of these stories that someone told someone. Cos if it’s gonna win a classic share it with us!!!!

March 1, 2006 at 13:22 #69070NOBLE MINSTREL
SENDINPOST
Stuart Williams is definitely "smarking" these two, who are both bred to need 10f+ and have now had three runs each at sprint distances, mostly on dirt. Close relatives Jagger and Sendintank (respectively) were successfully smarked as 3yos.
(Ok, still a bit obvious – wonder whether there might be the temptation to pull off a straight-forecast coup by running – and not backing – both in the same race…)

March 9, 2006 at 12:50 #69074Have you been researching those all since the last post FSL? ;)
You must have plenty of time to burn
March 9, 2006 at 12:51 #69075No breeding for it GM?
Come on, help us out a lil ;)
March 9, 2006 at 13:13 #69076Jackane I’ve been 2 days looking at Godolphins Seven Stars. Hopefully a little preperation will make me rich.

Nah, joking aside – Eta Draconis. Unraced 3yo by Godolphin tipped to me by somebody and Sheikh Mohammed has said that he is ‘like a machine’ – i’m paraphrasing the last part, but it’s along those lines.
Also, does Pescatorio count as obvious!?!?!
Pretty sure ive heard many things about that Godolphin inmate too…… the last of which was that he probably wont make it to the track. whether thats true or not, i cant be 100% sure. We will have to wait and see i suppose.
March 9, 2006 at 13:37 #69078Many people have said Nakheel, i am also a big fan. I was at Uttoxeter on the day of his maiden win at Hamilton and the dogs were barking even at the Staffordshire track!!!! Dont think he will win the Guineas or the Derby………… but just wait for the Eclipse!! A stiff finish like Sandown obviously suits him after winning at both Hamilton and Pontefract, and although being by Sadler’s Wells his dam (name escapes me) brings a bit more speed to the pedigree – i think 10furlongs will be his optimum trip.
Recently back in Newmarket there have been many people investing in ante post vouchers on Short Skirt for the Oaks. She was impressive in her maiden last year but then was found out in group 2 company. Interesting to see that she currently isnt entered in the English Oaks, but maybe she will be supplemented. Thats all i know at the moment though.
Another Stoute horse that hasnt been mentioned yet is Riyalma – would be surprised if no one remembers her debut run at Leicester where she was given a VERY easy ride but quickened up well to finish 2nd. She never ran again as a 2yo, which would be a worry. But i know they are aiming her at the Irish Oaks.
Star Cluster is also one that no one has mentioned yet. The maiden she won at the July Course last year was full of winners (and good winners at that) in behind her. She is entered in the 1000guineas and if all is well i expect her to run well.
Someone mentioned Judge…… a VERY nice horse in the making. Although i may just be saying that because i love Giant’s Causeway progeny.
April 9, 2006 at 11:29 #69079SHELHOM has been gelded.
SEABOW is one of the darker horses I like for what it’s worth (probably not much!).
