To see a horse I falgged up, Sahara Kingdom, is running in a Class 4 at Lingfield today is a tad disappointing. 2/5 is hardly appealing either.

What did you think of the performance by Jan Vermeer on sunday as i know it was a horse to follow by you. And do you think it can beat ST Nicholas Abbey.
Any thoughts on Timepiece as well.
And did you guys see Nebula Storm win today as well could it be another STS.My answer is no anyway it is enterd in the derby but it get beat by ST Nicholas Abbey.
November 5, 2009 at 14:53 #257251Dont look at Nebula first start. He was racing 20 Kilo’s heavier that day than today.
He was in no shape to compete in that Ground that day. That was a very enjoyable race and he could be a Group horses easily.
The fillies maiden looked very strong….The oxx winner should be a Irish Oaks Horses and well AOB animal could be anything….may have a few quid on her for the oaks as she is related to 3/4 sister to Dylan Thomas
November 6, 2009 at 00:40 #257346Darren, nothing can beat St. Nicholas in the Derby based on his RP Trophy form. Nothing. Jan Vermeer I doubt is Derby class (thanks for the congrats, Wallace) and I’ve laid off my £2 on him and most of my Nibani stake. Steinbeck, Sent From Heaven and St. Nicholas are the 3 for me. No idea when the Oaks entries are out but I’ll have a look at that asap.
November 10, 2009 at 17:37 #258138With the injury to Lillie Langtry i have now say Special Duty will win the 1000 guineas.
So my bets are
Kingsfort and Steinbeck.2000 guineas
Special Duty.1000
ST Nicholas Abbey.DerbyNovember 12, 2009 at 19:01 #258398When will the entries be out for the Oaks as i am backing both Timepiece and the Bolger horse called
SagaciousNovember 12, 2009 at 21:35 #258420Okay peeps, to put you out of your misery I looked up the 2009 Oaks, and entries were by Noon St Paddy’s Day.
So, there is a fair chance that the entries for the 2010 edition are the same, but 364 days later, ie Noon 16th March 2010.
Supplementary entries can be made late May.
November 19, 2009 at 19:04 #259480That is a disgrace i will be betting on Timepiece and Sagacious and they may not even be in the race. These entries should come out the same as the derby.
And i was impressed by a filly today from the Cecil yard who won at Kempton is called Agailte.
December 10, 2009 at 00:12 #263074Thought I’d just give a quick update for non-after-timing purposes.
My main attention is on the 1000 Guineas right now because that’s where I believe the value lies right now. On the Betfair market, bar Tabassum, I believe you’d have to scroll down to Lady Darshaan to find something resembling a realistic Guineas winner based on former profiles, so I’ve been dabbling a bit more.
Further bets on Lady Darshaan, Hibaayeb and Sent From Heaven, as well as having £3 on Aviate means my book looks like this;
Lady Darshaan £6 @ 55s, £2 @ 95s
Sent From Heaven £2 @ 90s, £2 @ 120s, £1 @ 150s (I genuinely believe she’s the winner in waiting)
Hibaayeb £4 @ 95s, £2 @ 100s
Aviate £3 @ 110sI also have a £2 bet on Foolish Ambition @ 110s, although she’s now available at 310s.
I’ve also put £5 more on Kingsfort @ 40s, adding to the £2 @ 21s and £3 @ 32s.
December 10, 2009 at 23:06 #263293Zarkava how have you been as not seen you here in a while.
And what chance would you give Timepiece and Sagacious in the Oaks next year.
December 27, 2009 at 08:33 #265794This post primarily a bump, so that I’ve got easy access to the thread.
Syrian, from Page 1, is no longer eligible for the Derby – gelded.
December 27, 2009 at 19:09 #265924Not including the 2000 Guineas can you guys see ST Nicholas Abbey winning the same races as STS.
What do you guys think of Sagacious.I think it win the Epsom Oaks next year.
December 27, 2009 at 19:18 #265926Is there any betting on the Amount of Group 1 Winner AOB will Train lads?
I be geting on the 20+ if there is any market open
December 27, 2009 at 19:37 #265931Nah, its going to be Godolphin’s year.
December 27, 2009 at 22:24 #265960Why do you think that Gerald.
And what do you and Wallace and other members think of Sagacious winning the Epsom Oaks next year.
December 28, 2009 at 07:57 #266002I was just joking Darren, indicated by my writing Nah instead of No.

Even TAPK agrees that the Oaks is the hardest Classic to find the winner of, and I haven’t looked at the fillies yet. Remember, I am like Zarkava in that I don’t actually watch much horse racing (despite having an online subscription to both RUK and ATR).
Anyway the trainer is giving a big hint:-
26Jul09 Curragh (8Hy ,RPR87)
I will have to talk to the owners, but that is probably enough for her this year as she has to strengthen up. I expect her to do well over a mile and a half next year and possibly the year after too – Jim BolgerHalf-sister to Youmzain, Creachadoir (Lockinge), and sister to a G3 winner.
I just started on the Derby again yesterday. Lost everything on my computer a couple of months ago, and yesterday I inputted 388 names, and their form, TS and RPR. (Will add Abdullah horses that are in the betfair market later.) Today I’ll be doing the Sires and Damsires, and by the weekend I hope to have found a Great White Hope to take on the Coolmore monolith. It’d be quicker if I restricted myself to horses that were rated 85+ or so, but I suppose my anal-retentiveness is dominant.
edit: Sir Walter Raleigh has lost his taters!
December 29, 2009 at 10:47 #266176Just for the record, these are the horses that are in the betfair Derby market, but aren’t entered in the race, and would need to be supplemented.
Elusive Pimpernel
Workforce
Al Zir
Kingsfort
Kalypso King
Magician’s Cape
Termagant
Mendip
Lunar Victory
Warm Memories
Zeitoper
Al Ghazal
Pounced
Bullet Train
Vale Of York
Passion For GoldMost of them are either Khalid Abdullah’s (who has a policy of not doing entries) or Godolphin’s. Quite a few of the Godolphins were based stateside when entries were due, and weren’t necessarily owned by them at the time.
As mentioned about 20 pages ago, Termagant somehow managed to get added to the Derby market before she got added to the Oaks market. Someone made a mistake somewhere.
