Long gone are the days when Paco Boy use to turn up for spin at half pace and hack up
This years field is a belter
Field of Gold has it all to prove after disappointing in his last two runs of last year. If he can return to his best it will be nice to see and a winters break and the master trainer in form.
At around the 1/1 mark I’ll pass and take a shot at Zeus Olympios 9/4, very lightly raced but impressive and potentially the more likely for improvement.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

April 20, 2026 at 18:57 #1764375Zeus Olympios is the one horse I am looking forward to this season.
The more I know the less I understand.

April 23, 2026 at 08:32 #1764544Field of Gold is an interesting horse. He made his reputation in races against his own age group, but if you look back now at the Irish 2000 Gns and the St James Palace, the horses he beat have done nothing to boost the form of those races.
As soon as FoG came up against older horses, he got beaten. Excuses were made for Goodwood and Ascot, but perhaps the reality is that he isn’t really a superstar, just the best of a moderate bunch of 3yo milers.
We’ll learn a lot more about him at Sandown, where the daft conditions allow a Classic winner to run with no penalty, while Zeus Olympios gets a 3lb penalty for winning a weak Group 2.
April 24, 2026 at 15:03 #1764631Give the ride back to Shoemark.
April 24, 2026 at 15:14 #1764634Still think they need to get a pacemaker for FOG and then he can sit more handy instead of being dropped out the back (and thus out of position) in a tactically run race.
Winner was electric out of the stalls and gained well over a length and then Buick rode them to sleep on the front end.
The Lockinge could be a right old race this season if they all turn up.
April 24, 2026 at 15:29 #1764636John Gosden explained to Chapman before the race why they weren’t using a pacemaker.
