Steve’s toner has started playing up i think.
Professional or amateur jobbie jostler Kev?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 24, 2018 at 18:12 #1360995Sad that Jack can’t be left to respond in his own manner.
Who are these people who think they have the right to respond on people’s behalf?
It is a conversation Jack and I were having and I think he’s gentlemanly enough and well capable of making a measured response. He doesn’t need attention seekers butting in, especially not one with obsessive mental disorders, who already removed responses already but is straight back gibbering away and contradicting himself by guessing what people meant, yet claiming that I cannot see subtle nuances in communication.
Having a profitable racing methodology makes you neither intelligent nor wise. Maybe one day more will understand that living your life well and knowing true love and happiness is a much better thing to take to the grave with you. I am in my only ever relationship and it’s 31 years long. Your comments cannot devalue that and if you are in my position, you will be blessed men and women.
Make your family your heroes is my advice.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 24, 2018 at 20:42 #1361002I’ve had a bet on Quorto for the Epsom Derby at 25/1.
In a list populated by horses we have yet to see and ones we have seen but haven’t looked the part, I feel Quorto is going to be the one to contract as the season progresses.
Rated the same as Calyx on official ratings, I feel 114 probably sits a bit high for now, given that Cape Of Good Hope backs one form line, while July Stakes winner Advertise is backing the other form line.
I feel Calyx is far enough ahead to be the worthy Guineas favourite and so I prefer to back Quorto for the Derby and at better odds.
I thought Quorto did his best work late in his latest win and I hope they go 7F in the National Stakes, rather than drop to 6F for the Gimcrack next time. The dam Volume seemed to stay a mile and a half and she was third to Taghrooda in the Oaks before filling the same spot in the Irish version after a delay to replace the illegal shoes (For Irish Rules) she was initially shod with.
As a 2YO Volume won a Nursery over 9F and that is far enough for a young horse. I feel Quorto will go close to staying 12F in time, and for now his form is a clear standout that will probably be close to the best come season’s end.
Should Quorto win the National Stakes he will surely shorten from where he lies now and others may have debuted and failed to impress by then.
It’s kind of hard to see a better Derby candidate for now and we see time and again that the old saying that “If you are confident you have enough stamina for Epsom, you have too much” is proven to be the case.
I’ll waste a fiver to give me something to hopefully bring into the winter as an interest.
Epsom Derby 2019 Quorto 25/1 is my advice, not that that means anything.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 25, 2018 at 15:36 #1361033Yes Ginge you are right, I did mean that it’s not really just down to AOB on where they run, as we know the lads do like to involve themselves, obviously AOB has a fair say in it, but not the only say, like for example Willie Mullins.
Every trainer obviously does things that some people will disagree with but for me, it’s hard to criticise AOB too much considering hes just broke a very famous record….this year his stable doesn’t seem quite so strong. In saying that of course anyone is open to some sort of criticism but i think you were a little strong on it Steve, but that’s just my opinion!Didn’t mean to have any tone with my replies- apologies if it came across that way…
On Quorto Steve, i’d certainly agree i think he’s up there with the best we’ve seen 100% and the pedigree suggests he’ll be a very good 3yo as well. I remember Ginge was fairly taken by him as well. Hopefully injury stays away and he gets a fair shot at it!
Tomorrow at Leopardstown there are a few nice races, Goddess features, and we will see how good she really is after her maiden romp.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 25, 2018 at 17:45 #1361038Jesus, talk about OTT.
Whenever anyone is being wrongly accused I’ll say so; even if that person (Jack) is am sure capable of defending himself.
At least this time my comments do seem to have struck home/been partly successful. If not a full apology, nice to see you back tracking where Jack is concerned. Someone whose comments you described earlier with words “aggressive, angry; unfriendly or condemning” is now “gentlemanly”.
Value Is EverythingJuly 25, 2018 at 18:41 #1361040Yes, I agree with everything Steve says.
tbh Didn’t realise bookmakers were betting on it this early. Thanks for the heads up, Steve.
Taken the 25/1 Quorto.
Value Is EverythingJuly 25, 2018 at 19:33 #1361044Suspect we are more alike than we both care to admit, Steve.
After some kind words of concern some time ago made by TRF’s Drone, I looked into my mental health. Am very fortunate that my own “mental disorder” (a mild form of Social Anxiety) is in no way “obsessive” and does not affect how I think of others. Does mean I’d much rather spend time studying form or walking the dog… Or writing long TRF posts.
…Rather than going out to a pub/club/socialising. Although in truth I prefer animals (birds, horses and dogs) to most human social interaction. Remind you of anyone?
Also, far from “attention seeking”, social anxiety means I dislike attention. That said, it might be the reason for me putting tips up – at least subconciously – wanting positive feedback.Glad you’re happy in your relationship, Steve; everyone deserves a special someone. Am so grateful for Drone’s words; he’s indirectly responsible for me finding love. I know! Hard to believe a woman is interested in me, isn’t it?
Don’t answer that!
We’re planning on finding a place together some time in the next year.Am sorry you feel I have been persecuting you; not true. Got a healthy respect for your racing knowledge. It’s just you’re both a prolific poster and by far the most controversial when talking about racing… And often seeing other TRFers replies/disagreeing with you as somehow getting at you… When all I can see is them only guilty of giving their own honest opinions and imo unfairly getting abuse for it. Therefore, with all those things together it’s only natural am going to challenge your opinions/posts far more than anyone else. Both of us have a strong instinct of what we believe is right and that’s sadly also going to force conflict between us. May be if we both realise this (and are willing) we can improve matters? Strange thing is if we were to meet suspect we’d get on really well.
Mild Social Anxiety isn’t easy at times – best man’s speech absolutely terrifying!!! – but have accepted and come to terms with it. Those living with more aggressive forms of mental disorder have my utmost respect and sympathy. Using mental illness as an insult and/or using stereotypes only discourages people unable or unwilling to face their own mental disorders to accept them and/or seek help.
They need and deserve our support and encouragement. This has been the hardest post I’ve written.
Even my parents don’t know about my SA.
Good luck with your and Mrs Caution’s cat project, Steve.
That’s enough about us, please get back to the horses. I’ll keep to my thread for a while.
Value Is EverythingJuly 29, 2018 at 22:28 #1361466I doubt we would get on Ginger.
I suspect the main reason is that you will never admit that on some subjects you are just unwilling to admit that you are out of your depth in grasping the bigger picture.
I have never doubted your knowledge or dedication to the betting game. Maybe I don’t give you as much praise as you are due but when you are picking two or three from the first three or four in the betting, it seems less inspirational, even when the upshot is a profit on the race.
You also use Timeform, no shame in that if it helps pinpoint winners but I use my own techniques, never pay for form and am often putting up horses that I can’t get a bet on because the bookies are still lying in their farting sacks with their hands down the front of their underpants.
Socially I used to be very shy and now a little shy, often because I have trouble in telling it any way other than the way I see it. People ask me for an opinion and when it would be easier to tell a little white lie to smooth the waters, I just speak my mind and people end up not liking it. Hey, don’t want to hear the truth? Then don’t xxxking ask is my thinking.
I am particularly good with cats, dogs and kids. They trust me and my next door neighbour’s 2yo son, five year old daughter and Springer Spaniel follow me around like I am the Pied Piper. My Wife often cries out “Your fan club are waiting” when I go into the bargain and they are all looking for me.
People I simply don’t like as much. Very few are truly genuine and, as a whole, we have little to be proud of as custodians of this beautiful planet. Our mortality means that we tend to leave the future for the the next generation to sort out. We will be dead by time the worst effects kick in, so we can live for the moment and extend the middle digit to those who will be stuck in the shite heap of our making.
Sadly there are no Gods to step in to help. That notion is a lie used as a crutch, a comforter and a source of fear to control simple souls who will buy into the ever lasting life myth.
Religion brings more trouble than good, it is an excuse for murder and terror, putting barriers between people coming together for a common good.
We should be adult enough to accept that only WE can make change happen and to take responsibility for OUR actions. It’s all too easy to pan it off as “God’s will…blah de blah” and close out eyes to it. Childish nonsense used as a way to fleece money of people and give paedophiles easy access to children.
We are all flawed people and I probably say things the wrong way plenty of the time. At the end of the day it’s only putting my point, the way I see it, hopefully giving a different viewpoint. I feel a lot of pundits and presenters are lazily riding the gravy train and that the sport is obsessed with ex jockeys being the fount of all knowledge. I sometimes wonder if people on the forum are related to some of my targets for criticism and if some are holding a torch for Liz Price, hoping that one night she will tap their door scantily clad, in a vulnerable, grateful state of emotion, clutching a list of short priced favourites for Auteuil.
Anyway, that said, I saw the best 2YO I have watched in France this season at Deauville today. Jean-Claude Rouget’s Tasleya is Mashoora’s first foal. She is by Frankel and was making her debut over 6F, in the race for unraced fillies that was won by Polydream last year before she returned to the track the following month to beat Laurens in a Group 3.
This was the race:-
http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/race-replays/2/3354/
She is in the Sheikh Hamdan colours and breaks a bit slowly, in arrears early.
She seems to make up the ground easily enough and in the closing stages it is clear she is going best. A little bit green but she puts them away easily, hitting the line ears pricked. She seems sure to be suited by another furlong and I feel that she will be Guineas class in time.
Thanks for you honesty Mark. Best of luck with the thread and with life in general. Happiness is where it is at, so keep at it

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 29, 2018 at 23:20 #1361467‘Jean-Claude Rouget’s Tasleya is Mashoora’s first foal’
Mashoora does have another filly foal Steve by Dubawi called Munaajah. She is currently out of training and was offered at the sales a couple of weeks back but withdrawn. She remains the property of Shadwell Stud.
Good spot with Tasleya today, what a beautiful filly and look forward to seeing more of her. I watched your video posted up on the Frankel Thread.
Still early days but that was an eye-catching performance.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 30, 2018 at 13:37 #1361503I’ll be keeping an eye on Ginger Fox at Windsor later this evening
I’ve got him written down on a piece of paper as one that Hannon said he was excited about at the start of the season, not that what Hannon says is not pinch of salt stuff but who knows….

July 31, 2018 at 01:00 #1361562Thanks for your considered reply, Steve. Much appreciated.
Understand a little more about you now.Peace breaks out on TRF. LOL
Think it’s important for me to respond at some point to a few things you’ve said about the way I bet there. But I’ll use my own DLAP thread to do that.

I’ll just leave you with this thought:
Nothing wrong with saying things as you see it, as long as you allow others to do the same without getting in a huff with them.
Value Is EverythingAugust 1, 2018 at 17:34 #1361811Rumble Inthejungle travelled well in a quick 5 furlongs today and won with plenty in hand.

August 5, 2018 at 18:22 #1362344Blenheim Palace out at the Curragh on Monday. 65% of the Coolmore 2 YO’s still to run yet.
August 5, 2018 at 21:37 #1362353Aidan has another well bred one in Blenheim Palace’s race in the shape of BARBADOS, who is a full brother to Maybe. He also holds the usual entries.
Later in the week, Friday’s Newmarket meeting sees Michael Stoute entry KINGS GIRL jocked up with Ryan Moore. Kings Girl is by Kingman and the same card sees John Gosden’s Kingman colt ALBERT FINNEY entered up with Frankie on board. Frankie is also shown for one of Gosden’s other entries but Albert Finney interests me because the Dam is Gertrude Bell who was also trained by Gosden. The worry is that neither of Gertrude Bell’s first two runners were great shakes.
Perhaps the biggest draw of the week might be CALCULATION though. Owned by The Queen and trained by Michael Stoute the colt is entered in a mile maiden at Sandown. The appeal will be to see Estimate’s first offspring make his debut and he is by Dubawi. This race could be a real treat as TOO DARN HOT is also by Dubawi but out of Dar Re Mi and has Frankie jocked up for John Gosden.
Both colts will probably be having the owners dreaming of the Classics but you would think Too Darn Hot is more likely to be forward and an entry in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster suggests he’s well regarded.
He’s my must watch of the week. Too Darn Hot
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 5, 2018 at 22:30 #1362356Some big entries tomorrow
