It’s very rare to get a proper good crop of 3yos, Ruby. When they come along, they’re a joy to behold. The 3yos last year I think are the best there’ll be in a very long time. Before that 2005, and before 2003. You occasionally get a shining beacon or 2 in terrible years – Zarkava, Goldikova, Halfway to Heaven and New Approach in 2008. Frankel and maybe Pour Moi this year. Sea The Stars and maybe Rip in 2009.
If we get 4 or 5 good horses next year, it’ll be a good year.
On another note, I cannot say this enough times – back Russelliana in the Princess Margaret on Saturday. Stoute’s only 3 runners in the race in the past 11 years have all won and they were both Group/Grade 1 performers. Enthused in 2000 has followed an identical path to Russelliana, in that she won her debut and finished 2nd in the Cherry Hinton.
The only other runners he’s had since 1990 was 3rd in 94, Pure Grain. She won the Irish Oaks.
Nap of the month.
July 20, 2011 at 11:51 #365261Very True Zarkava.
I Forgot to say Tenth Star in that list and is entered to run in the Tyros 2moro night. Just another Dansili which is more of a Guineas profile for me.
July 20, 2011 at 21:36 #365313The St. Leger 2012 winner finished 2nd in the 7.10 at Sandown earlier. El Greco.
July 22, 2011 at 11:31 #365430Was gutted last night as i backed Parish Hall instead of the filly i put up on opening thread damm. What you guys think of race last night
And any thoughts on Questing to win 1000 guineas as well.
July 22, 2011 at 13:18 #365437I’m expecting Signor Sassi to make a winning debut in the 6:10 Newmarket tonight.
July 23, 2011 at 00:28 #365479I caught the final 2 furlongs of the opening maiden at Ascot and saw Hello Glory scoot up. She ran down the middle of the track and ran as straight as a drumstick. Very impressive. Unfortunately the breeding suggests she won’t be that good.

Her sire, Zamindar, has five Group One winners and numerous other classy horses. Her dam, Affair Of State, now has ten winning offspring, including a Listed winner. Looking at the breeding of the likes of Canford Cliffs, Dick Turpin and Hello Glory’s stablemate, Dream Ahead, I was wondering which part of her breeding are you not happy with?
July 23, 2011 at 16:58 #365543Perhaps her dam has produced 10 winners, but how many of them have blacktype and how many of them have RPRs in the 110s+?
July 25, 2011 at 14:02 #365769The Galway Maiden races are fast becoming very good races.
Treasure Beach after all won a nursery their.
Keep a eye out folks.
July 25, 2011 at 14:06 #365771Starting to get the eyes lit up for a horse called Tibet.
I am loving it.
July 25, 2011 at 23:06 #365834Perfectly understandable looking at his sire, dam and damsire, but I’m not sure about him.
The only previous Dansili-Fusaichi Pegasus cross resulted in a Clive Brittain horse with form figures of 75769 called Kaifi. A dog of the highest order. No Dansili-Mr Prospector crosses yet either.
La Lorgnette has produced some wonderful horses, but do they in turn produce wonderful horses? Hawk Wing was hardly a revelation at stud, and Race For The Stars’ only runner so far didn’t set the track alight. I’d be interested to find out if Lorgnette Bloodstock have bred anything before but Google seems to have very little info about them. RFTS was the only filly/mare out of La Lorgnette who raced so I wonder if they’re just trying to have some fun with her.
Hmm, not sure. I’d probably sway more towards nay than yay. This is where Ballydoyle’s scattergun entry system is very annoying. Would love to find out which of them are their best horses. Dewhurst entries out around August 5th. Aidan only enters good horses in that, ignore anything that’s not in it.
For example, initial Epsom Derby 2011 entries trained by Aidan without Dewhurst entries; Admiral of the Red, Auguste Renoir and Long Live The King. For some reason I only marked down those 3. But those are all dogs.
Interestingly Camelot’s debut RPR was only 80. That instantly eliminates him on my Derby trends and he won’t be winning anything Epsom related as long as it’s a moderately decent crop of 3yos next year.
I also wonder whether it isn’t very insightful that Aidan’s given Power so long off. He did the exact same thing with Henry and George, giving them 6-8 week breaks from June until the Phoenix.

July 26, 2011 at 13:52 #365872Camelot ran in a 4 runner maiden of unraced horse’s i don’t see how they could give him a high rating for that performance.
On Tibet he is close to Zulu Chief a horse that could have been anything if he hadn’t of gone the wrong way. Its a smashing family and the mare was sent to Dansili. The new realsionship with Juddmonte is very important for Coolmore to have good outcross sire’s of their own to work with their mare’s. We already see that Reply and Power are Juddmonte sired and i wonder could this guy be up their with them in term’s of ability.
2 yr old race’s need to come quick as its really hard to get any handle on their relative merit’s.
July 29, 2011 at 17:22 #366398What you guys think of performance by Harbour Watch. And ignore other thread that was last year 2 thread.
July 30, 2011 at 08:12 #366492I said yesterday on the other two year thread that
Harbour Watch
who’s top speed rating was
66
would need to improve 20lb to beat
Bannock 85
and
Caspar Netscher 85
.
Well
Harbour Watch
improved his speed rating by a jaw dropping 29lbs to head my 2yo old ratings at
95
with
Bannock
on
89
and
Caspar Netscher
on
87
.
He has already bettered stable companion
Canford Cliffs
best 2yo speed rating of
93
, if he runs over 7f this year I can envisage
Harbour Watch
joining
Frankel
in the 100+ speed rating club,
Frankel’s
best 2yo speed rating was
102
.
July 30, 2011 at 17:36 #366570Very intresting from you BB had no idea about that in terms bettering CC record
And any thoughts on Gosden winner Fallen For You came from last to 1st to win well.I still like Questing more i do.
August 4, 2011 at 11:55 #367093Though Learn should win tonight i think Daddy Longlegs could be a decent 2yo this year. not saying he win tonight but could progress as season goes on.
