I have been following racing for 26 years plus and I have NEVER seen a chaser as good as ELEGANT ESCAPE. Dont forget I have seen kauto stars and Denmans careers come and go and make.no mistake about it when it comes to 3m2 1/2 f ran at gold cup pace then the horse who can beat THE GREAT LEGEND HIMSELF has yet to be born.
THE TEAM ARE READY
March 15, 2019 at 15:10 #1402291Now the talking has to stop. Will potato be prize champ or chimp ? We are about to find out. A Tizzard 1,2,3 led by Native River would do nicely for me !
March 15, 2019 at 15:14 #1402293This is it; the peak of NH racing, always love that moment on the back straight 2nd time round when it becomes clearer who is travelling + who isn’t. As a C4 commentator said a few yrs ago, “Now we’re entering the torture chamber.’ Clan des Obeaux has been my nap of the week since Newbury; surprised he isn’t a strong favourite
March 15, 2019 at 15:15 #1402294Now its game time
Anymore talking is done on.the racecourse.
March 15, 2019 at 15:24 #1402296Oh my goodness
Just look at the condition of the great legend absolutely phenomenal
March 15, 2019 at 15:27 #1402298Anibale Fly is eye-catching at 25-1
March 15, 2019 at 15:28 #1402299If you can’t work out that Elegant Escape’s best atribute is stamina, Potato… And good-soft doesn’t play to those strengths as much as soft… then you’re a novice punter no matter how many years you’ve been punting.
You’re a great read, Potato; thanks for that. But to make a profit punters need to look at a race/horse without being so blinkered.
Elegant Escape might (MIGHT) still win on good-soft, but by far his best chance would’ve been on very soft.
Value Is EverythingMarch 15, 2019 at 15:40 #1402300Rated Al Boum but Ruby didn’t choose him. Wd winners.
March 15, 2019 at 15:40 #1402302Racing’s ups and downs; Mullins loses 3 on the first circuit, the other wins
March 15, 2019 at 15:42 #1402303Percy needs a new trainer. Or perhaps an actual trainer
March 15, 2019 at 15:42 #1402304Crazy early pace set by Nico. Can’t wait to see the sectionals.
Congrats to connections of Al Boum Photo and its backers.
March 15, 2019 at 15:49 #1402308Time tells us it’s more like good going than good-soft.
Value Is EverythingMarch 15, 2019 at 15:51 #1402309Page 9 of this thread I explained why I thought ABP performance in tramore was the best piece of form of the season. Beating total recall by 6 lengths giving him 10 pounds, with the subsequent thyestes winner invitation only back in third. Great advertisement for tramore racecourse, and hopefully Invitation only has survived his fall.
I reckon this winner is very very good indeed. And I am delighted that Paul Townend after his error at Punchestown last year has had this day of celebration on the same horse. Great story
March 15, 2019 at 15:52 #1402310Wd to winners
on reflection THE HORRIFFIC FORM of tizzard over the last 2 weeks means undue normal circumstances in 2020 the gold cup will go to the rightful champ the great legend himself ELEGANT ESCAPE
The team are ready for 2020
March 15, 2019 at 15:52 #1402311Does this mean potato has to pick a new legend.
March 15, 2019 at 15:57 #1402315Congratulations to Al Boum Photo and Mullins deserves a Gold Cup after all his seconds, albeit a bittersweet one.
I don’t think this will go down as a vintage renewal though.
Might Bite’s jumping let him down. You can win from the front if you jump like Frodon and Sirah du Lac did yesterday but he made too many niggly mistakes.
Native RIver used too much energy to get to the front and the ground wasn’t soft enough. The stable form didn’t help. Needless to say I did Thistlecrack. And the pace was too quick for Elegant Escape.
BDM ran a cracker. If the ground comes up softer next year then who knows.
CDB is the one I’m not sure about. He seemed to run his race and didn’t seem to have any excuses.
As for the favourite is it possible he’s not as good as we thought or did he miss his last run for reasons we aren’t being told?
March 15, 2019 at 15:58 #1402316So potato blames Tizzard form on elegant escape not winning lol
Yet native river has finished over 15 lengths ahead of him … also trained by Colin Tizzard
