Wow, this is tough. Especially when Joe throws in his note about TYM to boot. It was hard enough to get past Vicente and Fagan as it is!
But I’m looking for a bit of value further out, and Label Des Obeaux may well be that value. Won at this meeting a year ago on Good, giving I Just Know over a stone and a seven-length beating. Now rated a pound lower than then – maybe this is his time of year?
Gave weight to all those involved in the finish but L’Ami Serge in the Sky Bet Chase at Wetherby in January, that race with five finishing close also including Warriors Tale and Wakanda. I’ve had a tickle at 20s.
April 21, 2018 at 11:05 #1351419Sizing Tenessee 16/1 EW, The Young Master 14/1 EW and Vicente 9/1 for me here.
Sizing Tennessee was going well in the 4miler at Cheltenham and with better ground I think he can stay the trip. The Young Master ran a decent race at Cheltenham and is now very well handicapped. Added a little bet on Vicente as all circumstances look right for a hattrick.
April 21, 2018 at 11:38 #1351434I’m now another who’s added Sizing Tennessee to their book now. 4 for me with 1 saver and that’ll be that.
Ballyoptic 16/1
Sizing Tennessee 16/1
Label Des Obeaux 25/1
Straidnahanna 50/1Saver:

Silsol looks the most interesting out of the rest.

So don't run, just like the others always do
April 21, 2018 at 14:10 #1351475The Young Master looks ideal for this and Benbens looks good value e/w. It’s a hell of a renewal, just devastated my old friend missed out by one
April 21, 2018 at 16:16 #1351509Good luck if you were on the winner, I sure as hell wasn’t.
April 21, 2018 at 16:19 #1351511Rebecca Curtis training winners is enough of a shock nowadays, let alone winning the Scottish National!
April 21, 2018 at 16:24 #1351513I wasn’t as all my other bets over the past couple of days lost so I restricted myself to one but happy to get a few points in the handicap comp. Suspect the Curtis horses may be over a virus like some other yards this season.
April 21, 2018 at 16:24 #1351514A shame for a lot of us that Ballyoptic couldnt get up but i take my hat off to anyone who found Joe. He was gutsy.
April 21, 2018 at 16:31 #1351516You’ve landed some biggies this season, Charles; I thought Ballyoptic had maybe just grabbed it going by his rider who seemed to punch the air. Good shout, anyway.
I’m not a follower of Rebecca Curtis (and doubtless Matt will take some stick for describing her as ‘lush’), but it’s good to see this jumping game throwing up yet another story. A desperate season pulled from the fire for one smallish trainer. Good luck to her.
April 21, 2018 at 16:36 #1351517Yeah its a big old gutter to have come so close with Ballyoptic especially having backed Pleasant Company last week. Ugh. But i agree that it was nice to see Rebecca Curtis and connections have a massive winner like that. It was certainly a better result for racing than a Michael O’Leary/Gordon Elliott combination was 7 days ago.
April 21, 2018 at 17:04 #1351519Very unlucky Ballyoptic backers.
Couldn’t have even considered the winner, even after the event, can’t have him.
April 21, 2018 at 22:23 #1351546Surprising winner. Unlucky for those who backed Ballyoptic. I thought he would get there.
April 23, 2018 at 13:23 #1351662The coincidence strikes again. Talking to someone with the surname Farrell (not Joe) just before the race and he made me miss it live. I had not seen him in about 12 months. When they were going through the prelims I thought wouldn’t it be funny if Joe Farrell won and he duly did

Well done the winners. The above was the only way I could have backed the horse.
