The ground aint as bad as it was last year and last year Delta Work won the Pertemps. he has since beaten Le Richebourg on good ground. He’s the best Novice Chaser from Ireland and with Ireland winning the Arkle & Close Brothers I expect Delta Work to bolt up here tomorrow or Saturday

Topofthegame can go right to the top, assuming soundness of wind and limb, not at all a given with such a big horse. Still, I’ve backed him for this.

Delta work and top of the game, can’t have santini at all, even without the disrupted prep his form is not good enough. The world’s end may well get involved too

Laid off a bit of my Delta Work bet, to cover a third go in this, and went with Now McGinty.

Was very confident about Delta Work in the lead up, but not as much after today, fingers crossed.

    Delta Work 20’s
    Drovers Lane 25’s NRNB
    Now McGinty 33’s

It’s a 2 horse race for me Delta Work vs Topofthegame.

I wouldn’t have any concerns whatsoever about the form of Gordon Elliot however being only a 6yo could be a concern as I learnt last year.

I rate the two horses as having fairly equal chances so it comes down to 6 or 7yo and I have to go 7yo.

    WIN -TOPOFTHEGAME@7/2

Nicholls refers to this horse as ‘the apple of my eye’ in today’s betfair column. That is some statement considering he trains the worlds greatest chaser according to ratings and also Clan Des Obeaux.

He can enjoy his day in the sun today but next year in the gold cup my boy will take care of him as the legend makes it gold cup win number 2.

Been on Santini from a long time back
can’t say I’m confident this morning after he missed his race and the latest setback news although Henderson may have got the magic sponge out that worked on Altior last year and Binocular all those years back.

I have two of the sames bets Venture, but unfortunately not the same prices. Backed Delta Work a few weeks ago at 5/1 for this. He seems to have everything to win a race like that. He stays, he battles, he has course form and is classy enough. I doubt whether Topofthegame will stay and Santini is a bit of a enigma. Also added Drovers Lane at 20/1 EW. Ran a nice race at Cheltenham last time, beating some good horses. Ground is a slight worry, although I think it not that soft.

Don’t think staying will be topofthegames problem, he stayed fine last time but is a bit of a dodgepot and thought hed done enough to win when he cantered past la bague au roi, he will need to be played much later ala clan des Obeaux

I have delta work and topofthegame ante post at 7s and 8s, delta work would be the bigger winner so hopefully he gets the job done

I took Topofthegame some time back at 8s (in Bobby’s TRF V Pricewise) and I’m
just pleased that he’s got to the race as most of my ante posts for Cheltenham
this year are sitting in their stables, having a fag and reading the Racing Post
He can look workmanlike at times, but he’s got heart and will battle on if there
at the finish. His run behind La Bague Au Roi was given a nice boost when that
one went on and won a Grade 1 at Leopardstown next time out. Every chance.

Can’t have TOTG personally, especially at the price.
Doesn’t want a battle, does nothing in front and wont want a staying race which this is 99% of the time.

I can make a case for all the top three not winning!!  In fact I think the front four in the betting are all with doubts IMO!!

I am on Now Mcginty ante post at 50/1 and have backed Drovers Lane at 28/1 and Mister Malarkey at 20/1

    Good Luck guys :good: :good:

First 3 all look very good to me

    Topofthegame cruised through that race

Still looks a big baby to me, could improve a considerable amount going into next years gold cup

Very nice race. Good to see the top 3 battle it out. I suppose we will see the three in next years Gold Cup!
