Just watched the race, as like Greenasgrass I’m also at my non racing in laws (sis) for Christmas,
but I wasn’t lucky enough, like Green, to get watching the race earlier. I had to avoid the news
and keep off the forum until I got peace and quiet to watch it tonight. Well done Green with a
very tasty 33/1 :yahoo: he didn’t give you much to worry about as he had it i the palm of his
hand from some way out. I was gutted to see BDM fall, but delighted to see that he appears none
the worse. I don’t think he liked it too much stuck in the middle of horses and he got a bump,
I think from Thistlecrack, at the 1st. I still hope BDM can show what he’s worth at the Gold Cup,
but my long term fancy for that, Presenting Percy, looks quite sound at the moment.

The sky is blue, we all die, Joe will find a way to shoehorn a mention of the Cotswold chase in to a thread about a stayers chase.

Apologies. I hate the race with a bloody passion. Was unfortunate to be there when Many Clouds died which was what set me looking at its history more deeply

I’m not one to usually blow my own trumpet, especially after the event but backed Clan Des Obeaux a few times at 33/1 after the Betfair. (Also 50/1 for the gold cup). Nicholls said he’d come on for the run and improve, and at the price I’m glad I didn’t bottle it. He’s my star horse as well, and always thought the potential was there.
Anyway, the 6yo has paid for christmas and then some, and if Faugheen beats Apples Jade tomorrow, (have a couple of handsome doubles running up from the King George), could be a very happy new year also.
That was some line up though, just a shame we didn’t get to see how Waiting Patiently would have got on, not to mention Bristol De Mai, best line up I can recall for many a year, it’s making into a season to savour already.
