Brilliant to see that performance from Waiting Patiently yesterday, as he’s a horse I’ve always rated, ever since he got a good word from Rob North, and I don’t think we’ve seen anywhere near the best of him yet. That win at Kempton last month was a real eye opener, it was just the way he did it. Very impressed. I’ve had The King George in mind for him ever since, and was ready to take a chance today. Long way off, but took a chance at the 14’s and 16’s. Not a big betting race for me The King George, certainly not one I think of this far out normally, but had to take a chance at those odds. He’s best priced 7’s now, but I still think that looks fair.

Another who also looks worth considering is Footpad, who looks big at 25’s. I’d be happy that the trip wouldn’t be an issue, owners will certainly want to be represented, and I think that price is huge. I’m seriously considering him too, but can’t possibly play him, with stablemate Bachasson lurking in the background. Now he’s a horse I’d love to see here, and might just ask for a price.

Having just said it’s not a big betting race, I’ve bet another to go with WP, and it’s the gutsy Black Corton. A bit harder to be confident about this far out, but he is going the right way, he’s a course winner, and as long as fit and well, considering connections, he’d surely be considered for this. I had to have a go each way on him at 66’s. Far off or not, that price looks huge.

I’ve never bet this far out on the race before, and probably won’t again, but I like that pair, and that’s without considering Bachasson.

    Entries out…..

Some interesting ones in there, but my hands tied for now with the early selections, but this trio jump out right now.

    Bellshill 25’s
    Kemboy 50’s
    Mister Whitaker 50’s

I think the price for Bellshill is totally wrong, especially as Mullins has mentioned he’d much prefer to see him go right handed, and I’m on the verge of adding him at that price.

I stuck a few nuggets on Bellshill yesterday Bob.
25’s is a fair price he is as low as 14’s in places. Oddschecker are quoting horses ahead of him in the market that simply won’t run. Douvan for example.

I don’t believe Bellshill will run here if, as expected, Footpad does. I’m on at 10s. :good:

Yeah Nath, I think it’s a fair old price that.

He’ll probably be geared towards Tingle Creek, but the 50’s on Saint Calvados is interesting as well.

In the Betfair Chase I think Native River has a better chance than his odds suggest so have backed him for that. However, if the Tizzard horse doesn’t win at Haydock can’t see him coming here. Maybe best on a right-handed track and suspect he’s only entered if the Betfair/King George/Gold Cup bonus is on.

With Waiting Patiently off an injury and night go straight there after the best part of a year off.

Footpad having a bad experience on reappearance and if fit seems far more likely to go for the shorter trip Grade 1 in Ireland over Christmas. Bellshill and Road To Respect – how often do Irish horses run?

Altior will only turn up if Might Bite is injured.

    Politologue unproven at trip…

    etc. etc.

Am sure one or two of the above will run, but this race could easily cut up badly… And if Might Bite wins the Betfair (for which he’s rightly a short price) likely to shorten further for this. imo Quite a bit more than a one third chance. Taken the 2/1.

An interesting question posed by LD73 on the Betfair Chase thread- if all 5 protagonists run here, what will happen?

Bristol de Mai- needs more time between races I suspect and won’t have it his own way.

Native River- Didn’t travel as easily as I thought he would today.

Thistlecrack- Did very well to get up for 3rd, won’t get away with those deliberate jumps in the KG- too likely to get shuffled back in a presumably bigger field, which it may be now Might Bite’s crown has slipped.

CdO- will have learnt a lot today. Won’t disgrace himself. I backed him EW at 33s ages ago for this so hope he runs, amd goes well

Might Bite- will be better than today. Nico went very easy on him at the end.

A lot of others might fancy their chances. Teafortwo might not be a bad EW bet at 50s.

I would hope something oter than the 5 that arrived today arrive then.. Wasn’t impressed by MB regardless of it being his first run.

TC travelled well but still wouldnt like him.

BDM, yes proved me wrong today, but i wouldn’t fancy him as the season gets older and at Kempton.

    Maybe Bellshill?

I’ve taken some 16s Altior. If indeed Might Bite has gone wrong in some way today, I think they’ll be tempted with a horse who has always looked to me to have much more stamina than is needed at 2 miles. I suspect Altior wins 2 mile races because he is brilliant in general rather than because 2 miles is his trip. I’ve had a wee bet at 50s too for the Gold Cup.

I’m happy to stick right now, but still can’t help digging through these, esepecially with a realistic chance that a few at the head of the betting might not trap.

Couldn’t have had him on my mind a fortnight ago, but off the back of that run at Cheltenham last week, I really think that Coneygree is interesting here at 40’s.

Might just lay my stake back on Waiting Patiently, and add Coneygree as well.

Taken a chance on Coneygree and Altior. Surely Altior’s owner(s?) will be keen to run him if the other key players aren’t blowing us away? Surely Henderson can’t just refuse to run him because he doesn’t want two of his horses running against eachother?

Hendo has mentioned stepping Altior up in trip but in the same breath has equally questioned why they would do that. He has already said they won’t tire from winning Champion Chases and as temping as it is to go KG with Altior I see little chance of it happening.

I’m keen on Native River going for this race. A bit of give in the ground and i think he’d have a chance. Not worried about the track because i don’t think they should be worried about the opposition.

Two horse race between the speedsters Politologue and Waiting Patiently – the latter getting the nod for me.

I’ve taken the chance at 9/1 that Politilogue does stay the 3m. He travels like he does. He’ll appreciate going RH, will out jump plenty of them and has had a nice prep, trainer has stated he’ll run here so for me he’s the clear value call at 9’s.
