I’m glad there isn’t a book for this yet, as most of my fancies arexwsy down the list, and touch and go to get in.

The first horse I wanted to see in there was The Mouse Doctor. Had been waiting him out for an age, and finally got behind him at Leapordstown last time. He was very unlucky, and I’m sure the jockey would ride the race differently, given another chance. Think this is the perfect opportunity for some compensation.
I’d be really keen on Sandymount Duke, should he sneak in. Big fan of this multi purpose horse, and long thought this would be the plan. Holds entries for The English equivalent, as well as The Munster National. This looks the most sensible option to me, and hopefully he can sneak in.
A horse I’ve followed for some time, with mixed results, is Western Boy. Probably for the best that he’ll struggle to get in, as I keep giving him another chance. Another JP horse, and one who might just scrape it, is Waaheb. It’s easy to forget that he was the next few thing a few years back, but after having completely lost his way, I think I’ve seen some signs of recovery, and not one to write off altogether.
Ancient Sands will always be of interest to me, and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Mr Everest either, while David’s Charm is another of those multi purpose horses who it’s dangerous to write off.
Last, but certainly not least, of those lower down, is Like An Open Book. Won nicely at Tramore, before being given a stiff task last time. This type of race is his thing, and should be a price, but he’s up against it, trying to get in here.
Of the more realistic ones, realistic on the sense that they’re actually guaranteed a run, I’d love to see Nakeeta go, while Cliffs of Dooneen is an interesting contender as well.
Willie Mullins has too many entered to take a strong view, but I’m always keen to give a good word to Uradel and Whiskey Sour.
Relieved there isn’t an early book then, but early shortlist……
Nakeeta
Sandymount Duke
The Mouse DoctorOctober 10, 2018 at 00:57 #1376876Betfair and Paddy Power have this priced up, but the race is saturated with horses with other engagements.

I’d have Sandymount Duke as my #1 here, but after thinking he’d been scratched from The Munster National, he’s still in some Firms lists. Taking some encouragement though, from the fact that he’s missing from Sportsbook and Paddy Powers.
He’s risky then, but as much as I like him as a chaser, I have to take a risk here, going left handed, and off of a featherweight.
Most of my shortlist still in there, so will definitely add more. Impossible to call though until we see what happens with The Mullins contingent.
Sandymount Duke 25’s EW
October 10, 2018 at 11:43 #1376893A horse I like is Kuiper Belt. You’re right VtC, this is a hard race to figure out the final field, but I think 16-1 merits the risk.
I will also bet Nakeeta, but only if declared. I want to just now at 25-1, but I just wonder if connections will wait and hope they get into The Melbourne Cup?
October 10, 2018 at 12:25 #1376898Melbourne Cup horses would need to have already been in quarantine to run in the MC Kris so i would assume this must be the plan?
October 10, 2018 at 15:50 #1376913Miles to Memphis for me at 20-1. He placed last year, and I think that is a big price for a repeat bid.
I followed him the last year over hurdles, and I think he has a chance.
October 11, 2018 at 01:41 #1376953Yeah Kev, it has to be here surely, and he’s the other one from my main shortlist still there, so added him now myself.
Sandymount Duke still the main bet, but he’ll require a top up, should he trap here, and I could have four here, so Nakeeta a smaller bet. I’ll have to split stakes carefully, but might as well play him now.
Nakeeta
Sandymount Duke
Both 25’s EWOctober 11, 2018 at 19:07 #1377000I’ll be there on Sunday lads. It should be a good day’s racing, and I’m delighted this is at Navan now. It’s a bit of a pinsticker race for me, but I do like David’s Charm and Brex Drago.
October 12, 2018 at 12:35 #1377065Nakeeta doesn’t make it, but thankfully Sandymount Duke in there, and I’ll be topping up for sure.
I’ll still be three handed here, and will choose, at current order of preference……
Waaheb
Like An Open Book
Westerner Boy
Mr EverestOctober 13, 2018 at 13:40 #1377226Thank you Kev, I’m embarassed at that one.
With a non runner I will switch to Edelpour and Cliffs of Dooneen in this.
October 14, 2018 at 02:49 #1377291I’ve finally added a couple as backup, and went with Western Boy and Like An Open Book.
The 6 Places is helpful, and I’ve covered all three to those terms, and topped up on Sandymount Duke at 33’s too.
Haven’t went mad on the other pair, but covered them win only as well.

October 14, 2018 at 13:24 #1377316I don’t bet much on Irish racing but have had a go in this.
My three are
CHELKAR 10/1
CLIFFS OF DONEEN 10/1
MR EVEREST 20/1Good Luck Guys
October 14, 2018 at 13:53 #1377321I’ve got Cliffs of Doneen and Nessun Dorma on my side
Cliffs of Doneen will love the trip. I’m not convinced about Nessun Dorma but I put the horse up in my notebook in the trends thread and have backed him blind since, he came up trumps at 14’s a while back so it’s a free hit on himGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 14, 2018 at 15:44 #1377336I’m taking a chance that Waaheb has shown enough recently to suggest he might
be a bit overpriced in this at 50/1 and maybe he can turn the clock back
a bit. He’s more than risky, but at those odds perhaps worth a few quid
