I’m hoping the run of MOUNT LOGAN in the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes today
sways Varian and the Sheikh into running him in the Ebor. He ran a cracker, and pulled
away from the field at the end, with the exception of Frankuus who showed improved form
and won well. As I mentioned before, he gives me the impression that he needs further
than he has been running, I think this would be right up his street. He has been nibbled
at a little, as short as 12 in a few places, but still plenty of 20s about.August 12, 2017 at 19:01 #1313706Good point BigG, I’ve just nipped that one into 14s here.
I don’t like Mount Logan as a horse since he likes to hang in behind and isn’t exactly straightforward, BUT I think of him a bit like L’Ami Serge. A class horse with those kind of quirks often goes really well in a big field – I think the Ebor would suit nicely.
August 12, 2017 at 20:41 #1313708There’s no doubt a bit of temperament about him LS, but I’m hoping, and I think you’re
right, that the Ebor will suit him. My money’s down, 25/1 with Ladbrokes, I just hope I
at least get a run for my money.August 20, 2017 at 07:48 #1314535does anyone remember the huge gamble landed in this race in 1976. Sir Montagu, trained by Ryan Price and ridden by Willie Carson, was backed from big prices down to around 7/2 and made a mockery of the field. It won by half the track.
August 20, 2017 at 13:38 #1314582After her exploits so far this season, I really like the chances of Natural Scenery
Looking likely to take up an engagement in one of the fillies’ races earlier in the week instead.
Elsewhere, I see Nakeeta has been shortened up a bit over the past couple of days. A horse I like the chances of but I’ll wait until final decs now.
August 22, 2017 at 00:21 #1314825Assuming that Swamp Fox gets balloted out here, then I’m starting with a clean slate, and having had another look, I’d be keen on Dubka from the Stoute yard. She is a bit inconsistent, but I liked her attitude at Goodwood, and her mark doesn’t look too harsh to me. I reckon a repeat here puts her bang in the mix, and happy to have some of that each way.
My old pal Ivan Grozny is the same price, but I’ll sacrifice those odds, and wait to see if he gets declared. I’d be happy to take 10’s for him, and if he does trap, I’ll be delighted to see him here after last years disappointment.
Should the pair of them make it, I wouldn’t rule out having another running for me, but at the moment, I’ll settle for those two.
August 22, 2017 at 01:51 #1314833Firstly, let me say good luck to those on at big prices.
Of all the big handicaps of the year that come on the Saturday of a big racing week, like the Stewards Cuo for example, this is my favourite of the lot.
For me, I’d never play antepost for a handicap on the flat and would always wait to the last week.
A couple stand out to me at this point, the first of which is Ivan Grosny. Classy sort on his day. I worry what kind of fitness he would be in though.
Mount Logan, Seamour and Natural Scenery all take some interest as well.
The strong pace of a typical Ebor would suit Seamour down to the ground in my opinion. I think at 25/1, that’s a very nice price.
August 22, 2017 at 16:21 #1314875Clever cookie for me, a class horse with high cruising speed and a turn of foot, rated 106 this horse has the capability of wining and will be expecting odds of 30s or bigger on the exchange come race day but would even be willing to back it as low as 14s
August 22, 2017 at 21:09 #1314900There’s money going on Star Storm. Has it been Pricewised?
August 24, 2017 at 12:38 #1315245NO idea about that moe, but he’s made the line up.
August 24, 2017 at 12:41 #1315246Happy to get my cash back for Swamp Fox, and I can now have a go with Ivan.
Delighted to see him in there, and took the 9’s this morning. If he drifts out, I’ll definitely top up.
August 24, 2017 at 13:28 #1315256interesting that Varian has taken out both the Obaida horses and left in Battersea (fourth in the race last year and two pound lower) . It is still available at 20/1 in a place and could be interesting…
Surely they are not going to run Magic Circle ? who knows
Looks like I only have Wild hacked left out of my ante post picks!!

Chuffed to see Natural Scenery declared. I’ve stepped in and taken 20/1 with BetVictor to add to my nibble on Elidor at 40s.
I’ll probably add one more tomorrow evening. It’s a toss-up between Nakeeta and Ivan Grozny at the moment.
August 24, 2017 at 14:57 #1315285Clever cookie for me!
August 24, 2017 at 16:39 #1315303Wondering if Seamour can win this; got a good draw and is a few pounds lower. Would love to see him win. Also got to top up my ante post on Arch Villain as his price has gone right out. I love to back these horses that haven’t ran for a long time.Top Tug has a rubbish draw but I’m happy with my 14’s for Dubka; seem to remember Stoute doing well in this race in the past.
August 24, 2017 at 22:00 #1315374As venture stated in his first post Ivan gormzy could have a big say in this race, always have to respect a Mullins horse in a staying handicap
August 24, 2017 at 22:01 #1315375Wild hacked also an interesting one
