Agree with Lion, if they go a mental pace or even just a strong one then Yanworth will be a player for a place at the very least

Annie and Fauggy are apparently falling over each other at home giving bumps and bruises and, yes, as we hoped, the Yorky jumps fences. 125/1, that’s all right that
December 9, 2016 at 10:56 #1276145I’d be stunned if a Presenting managed to win a Spring Grade 1 hurdle over 2m.
December 23, 2016 at 17:44 #1278248MTOY E/W @ 40’s . Was going to back him for Kempton @ 10’s this morning but left it. Now VVM is out he’s down to 5’s.
It will give me a bit of interest in that race anyway.
With good ground he wont be too far away at Cheltenham.
December 29, 2016 at 11:47 #1279068Have taken the 25/1 Nichols Canyon each way here, looks far and away the best value in the race.
At most one of Faugheen and Annie Power will turn up, and even that’s not a guarantee. I can’t see two other horses to keep Nichols Canyon out of the frame.
If neither Annie nor Faugheen make it then Nichols Canyon will be near fav. I’m really struggling to see how he’s five times the price of Yanworth.
I do like Yanworth but his price looks very short now. Nichols Canyon’s jumping is on another level to what Yanworth is capable of and he’ll take lengths out of him in a Champion Hurdle.
Hoping for a good run from Nichols Canyon today – he should be winning or my bet won’t look so good.
December 29, 2016 at 11:57 #1279071Tommy, you’re a brave man betting a Mullins horse for any festival race.
Here’s what he said asfter NC’s last run:
It wasn’t the plan to run but when the others (Faugheen and Annie Power) had to be ruled out we decided to go ahead and declare him. They went a good gallop and his good jumping and stamina came in to play. He’s very effective over that trip on soft ground but I’d imagine we’ll be going back up in trip with him – Willie Mullins, trainer of Nichols Canyon.
However, anything can happen with this man and if he turns up on the Tuesday, 25s is certainly way too big
December 29, 2016 at 12:15 #1279075I think given the uncertainty surrounding his other candidates, Nichols Canyon is worth a go, and I’ve taken a chance at 180’s to 230’s, though I share your very understandable hesitance towards him Joe. My eyes will be on him and Petit Mouchoir today, as I’m on Petit at 480’s & 490’s for The Champion.
I wasn’t fully convinced by Vroum Vroum yesterday, and still hold (dwindling fast) hopes that she’ll make it to The Champion.
As for the others, they seem to have decided that Ivan Grozny doesn’t like Cheltenham, despite him running a big race in The County, where he met traffic problems, and then entering him for The International. I’ve went in again up to 210’s on him anyway. Having watched his Aintree win again last year, I just think he’s very good. His forgotten horses are Wicklow Brave & Arctic Fire, who could prove adequate subs, and have taken a chance on Wicklow at 260’s to 390’s, though the lack of news surrounding him, or indeed the lack of entries this year would be an obvious concern. Almost as concerning as betting any WPM horse for Cheltenham lol.
Despite all this, I genuinely think that Brain Power is the real deal, and he’s my idea of the winner at the moment, and have taken 25’s and 33’s each way.

I just feel they’d be conprising the horse’s greatest assets by steppibg up the three miles – his jumping and cruising speed are what make him such a potent force at two miles.
As ever with these horses we probably won’t know until the Sunday before Cheltenham but the Champion Hurdle seems the obvious way to go imo.
December 29, 2016 at 14:39 #1279125Well that was disappointing, jumping looked off from an early stage and made hard work of holding off Ivanovich Gorbatov for second.
December 29, 2016 at 14:46 #1279128Looks as though Annie power won easily the worst champion hurdle in recent times. And this years renewal looks like it won’t be much better.
It wasnt the true running of NC but struggled to even come second to Ivanovich.
Petit mouchouir looks good and is in good hands. Won’t be a decent price now because it’s such a weak race. Faugheen will win the champion hurdle injured or not

Hmmm that might be true.
December 29, 2016 at 17:00 #1279178Some round of jumping that from Petit Mouchoir; did the same at Newcastle and that form not worked out too bad.
May not be able to win a Champion Hurdle, but can definitely make the frame.
January 1, 2017 at 18:42 #1279742It looks to me as if L’Ami Serge may be Champion Hurdle bound after that effort in the Relkeel …
Was never convinced by him as a chaser and he looked altogether happier back over the smaller obstacles, only jumping left at the last when asked for effort. Travelled like much the best horse in the race. Not entirely convinced that he chose to put his best foot forwards up the hill (ears pricked and head up as soon as he hit the front, but he was rallying again late). Line through Lil Rockefeller (if he ran to form) says he would be worth his place in the field – at least as much as Yanworth.
If there is a CH candidate at SB this year, it is surely this one? Altior? (no chance of him going this way now); Buveur D’Air? (possible entry, but almost certain to be JLT after Warwick’s effort); MTOY? (no longer good enough); same owners’ Peace & Co? (still ‘way off’ according to dispatches, and even then the form of that Triumph is now thoroughly exposed as not good enough).
I can see him lining up, and at very decent place odds.
January 1, 2017 at 18:59 #1279744L’ami Serge is a bit of a jibber
buckets loads of ability but you wouldn’t chose him to pal up with you for the school playground tag team championship.
Better over hurdles and this race would offer the back to lay option on him as his travelling is always smoothGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 2, 2017 at 11:45 #1279841I really like Yanworth. Think the fact he stays further than two miles is in his favour and neither Annie power or Faugheen have done anything this season.
