I’m not holding my breath on Bet365 giving me my Aeolus money back.
I had 4 on Charles, 2 with Paddy Power, one with Skybet and one with Bet365 (3 ante post,
1 after final declarations with PP). I’ve already had the bets refunded with PP and Sky, not
as yet from Bet365, but from memory I think they waited until after the actual race was due
to run when I last had an ante post returned by them. I don’t think you will have any problem
getting your money back on Aeolus. In other sports (greyhounds for example at shelbourne this year), Bet365 waited until after the race time was due off even though it had been abandoned.
They obviously have that system in place so no problems getting your money back.

Racing’s governing body is still hoping to save the Ayr Gold Cup after the Scottish course had to abandon its entire three-day fixture due to an unsafe patch of ground caused by heavy rain.
Officials are working to reschedule the race at another course in the near future while Ayr gets to the bottom of the problem that caused the three days of racing to be lost.
Richard Wayman, chief operating officer for the British Horseracing Authority, said: “The BHA has been working with Ayr to consider alternative options for staging a replacement meeting in the coming days.
“However, the agreed position between the racecourse and the BHA’s course inspectors is that the condition of the turf and the prevailing weather conditions make it extremely unlikely that the course would be in a position to stage a replacement race meeting in a short timescale.
“We are doing the best we can to try to save the Gold Cup itself, which is such an valuable race for horsemen and important betting event.
“We will provide an update on this as soon as we are able to.
September 22, 2017 at 20:07 #1318543My only bet in the race got a low draw. Personally I think Chester is the place to run it.
September 22, 2017 at 23:07 #1318565Could they add it to the Musselburgh card on Sunday?
Musselburgh doesn’t have a straight six furlongs course. It would be nice if Scotland’s biggest flat race was kept in the country so why not move the best races of the three days to a rearranged fixture at Hamilton.

Wouldn’t that be handy LS …..although I’m not sure my pair, Growl and Stamp Hill,
drawn 21 and 24 would appreciate it muchSeptember 23, 2017 at 12:34 #1318632Will apparently be run at Haydock on 30th. The Scots won’t be happy…
September 23, 2017 at 18:28 #1318667Has anyone had an ante post bet for a horse that wasn’t declared returned by Bet365?

A maximum field of 17!! So a totally different race now. What are the chances of 17 being declared and two being taken out. Even if that doesn’t happen the betting turnover will be well down on normal years.

I was hoping someone who had maybe had those circumstances would have replied to you plunger.
I can’t recall that I have, but I’ve already had my ante post returned by them although it was
ready to run. There seems to be some chance that it might head to Haydock now. What I found in
Bet365’s rules was the following…………“If the venue for a sporting event is changed, all bets placed based on the original venue will be made void and stakes refunded, unless otherwise stated.”
As my stake has already been returned, I don’t think the “otherwise stated” comes into it. That
being the case, I’m in agreement with Steve that you should get back your stake, even although it
didn’t make the final declarations. Good luck with it mate, and let us know what the outcome isSeptember 24, 2017 at 09:17 #1318706Thanks BigG! Will do.
September 24, 2017 at 17:18 #1318788I’m surprised that more hasn’t been said about the problems in the past with that part of the racecourse.
They’ve had numerous issues which I’m sure resulted in meetings being abandoned halfway through the card, fairly recently, and possibly entire cards being lost. Might have dreamt the latter, but 100% on it not being a new problem.
September 24, 2017 at 22:37 #1318828It’s been going on for way too long bobby, and for them to suggest this is a new problem, such
as a drain collapse, is a little more than a smokescreen. I’m not saying there isn’t a drain
problem, collapsed or otherwise, but if that is indeed the problem, it has been ongoing for
many years. It has been discussed on here for years, such as these (abbreviated) from 2009…………July 13, 2009 at 20:55 #239447REPLY | REPORT | QUOTE

I believe the BHA, in the guise of the Inspector of Courses need to take a long hard look at Ayr to try and get to the bottom of what the problem is with their racing surface and if the matter cannot be identified / resolved I think their licence to race should be suspended.

On the replay you can clearly see a horse having got to its feet quickly jink to its right in order to avoid a jockey laying prone on the ground. If the horse hadn’t I dread to think what may have happened. The BHA or whoever is ultimately responsible for racecourse safety need to sort the ground out at Ayr and sort it properly – no spin, no bollocks, no shortcuts.

Its a disgrace , and I cannot believe they have the audacity to explain it all away on the jocks going too fast , it just beggars belief …This is the 3rd or 4th sad episode from Ayr , and franky they should either fix it or close it , as the present state of play gives racing a bad name

Does the Flat track serve as the Hurdles track during winter? If so, is it possible that the pounding given to the often appalling ground at Ayr during the depths of winter has insidiously being damaging the turf, and in particular the soil structure leading to the recent problems encountered during the summer.
A wholesale – York-like – renewal of the drainage system and/or turf may be the solution

Those are just a selection of very similar posts, after a number of horses came down. I believe
if a serious incident happens, potentially even more serious than that posted on above, someone
is going to be held culpable for papering over the cracks. Perhaps with the financial implications
of the Gold Cup meeting cancellation still biting hard, they might take the longer term view and
and take whatever steps are needed to restore some confidence in the course (IMO).September 24, 2017 at 23:19 #1318832Yeah, whole situation stinks, relieved I hadn’t imagined it though.
I’ve been down at the Caravan in Ayrshire a lot the last few weeks, and does seem to have been a lot more rain than usual, and I was down there tonight, and it was like a bog. What I can’t get my head around is that during the Draw on Thursday, they spoke to connections who had walked the track, and they said it was in good nick, other than the problem area. Nobody seemed that concerned. I know you mentioned moving house lately, did you remain in Hamilton? It’s just that I see Hamilton abandoned tomorrow, and the weather hasn’t been that bad in the area the last couple of weeks (well as good as it can get in Motherwell and Wishy lol), and at no point did I even think the meeting would be in doubt, I’ve seen it considerably wetter.
My spidey senses are going off the scale
Something gives.
September 25, 2017 at 12:04 #1318855It’s all very strange Bobby, and it seems Hamilton has “false ground” after
consistent rain and as you mentioned has been cancelled. I was so looking
forward to the Ayr meeting and obviously any course can get waterlogged with
heavy rain, but there are, and have been for quite some time, questions to
be answered about the state of the ground at Ayr. I did move, after 36 years
in Hamilton, and have settled in that bustling metropolis known as Dunoon.
I’m not sure what that makes me, maybe a DunooniteSeptember 25, 2017 at 12:30 #1318856Hey, Graham, welcome to the Firth of Clyde!
September 25, 2017 at 12:46 #1318857Bet365 voided my bet on Projection, so I live to fight another day!
September 25, 2017 at 14:00 #1318860Hey, Graham, welcome to the Firth of Clyde!
Cheers Joe, I’m settling in very nicely thanks. It’s a beautiful part of
Scotland……when it’s dry -
