I don’t think Ekhtiyaar will get in Joliff.
The three I am interested at the moment are

MR LUPTON who has only ran in two handicaps in his last fourteen runs and won them both !! 25/1
PROJECTION who was badly drawn last time and at ascot won the race on his side 25/1
RENE MATHIS who has taken some time to recover from being in Meydan but has won two good handicaps of about this mark albeit over seven furlongs 33/1

    :good: :good:

Shanghai Glory has been on my radar since before the Stewards Cup and backed him again in the Great St Wilfrid. I’m hoping he can put it all together here at Ayr. Backed him near enough to when the weights came out and more at each tick he’s come in. I’m very rarely a favourite backer but I was confident there was plenty of juice in his price.

Two others I have been keeping an eye on since Goodwood are Upstaging and Aeolus. I’ve backed both those as well, unfortunately I won’t get a run with Upstaging this time round but Aeolus is still in the mix. Looks like there’ll be plenty of rain about coming up to Saturday and Aeolus will handle plenty of it.

Nulty, I’ve always liked Aelous, but it’s only a “partial” good luck from me, as I won’t be betting him this time lol  One of those horses, who if they win, I’ll be doing a lot of swearing at myself.

Not deserting him lightly though, not a bad run from him last year, and has a reduced mark this time around, which makes him a very appealing price.

With Mattmu out injured, and Hoof It not getting in, I’m looking for a backup for Johnny Barnes, and these 2 are on my shortlist of 3 Raymo. I particularly like Lupton. Good luck with the trio Raymo.

I was always going to wait until the draw, going etc are known, not to mention any 6 places, so I’ll probably have to sacrifice those prices.

Been mulling them over again, and was about to write a bit about GET KNOTTED’s
chances, but I see Steve has already done that job. Completely agree
with what he said, and there’s nothing more I can add to that, except
well done spotting him early Steve and getting the 40s :good:
I’d not looked at him seriously earlier as I thought he was probably
bound for the Silver Cup, but he seems virtually guaranteed a place now.
I’ll happily settle for the 25/1 5 places with Skybet and add him to the
pair I chanced a few quid on 3 weeks ago, Growl and Kimberella.

Needs 15 to come out, but likely he will be in the consolation race or nothing at all. Had to grab the 16s as I reckon he’d be half that price if getting a run-shame!

Of those likely to run I think Growl looks a decent bet at 16s-proven in conditions and in generally good form in better company.

Hi Joliff, I’m not sure which horse you were meaning needs 15 to come out, but
just to let you know that Skybet and Betvictor still go 20/1 on Growl. I think he
looks a decent bet too :good:

Referring to Ektiyaar BigG-looking unlikely at the moment!

    Thanks will grab that 20s!

Can GROWL go well here, maybe going back to Ayr will revitalise him

Sincerely hope so judge, he ran a blinder last year in 2nd. Fahey clearly targets this race,
having won it a couple of times. He seems to have brought half the stable up with him this
time, including the winner 2 years back, DON’T TOUCH, but which one of his is at it’s peak
is hard to say. The market will give an indication there, and the draw could play a big part,
the first 3 all in single figure stalls the last couple of years. It’s impossibly hard as
always, but it’s still my favourite flat race :good:

You have to go back 15 years for a 3 year old winner of this race, but surely Ekhtiyaar isa better than a 100 rating? He beat Tommy Taylor last time out who since won a decent race at the York Ebor meeting, and could’ve won by more if he got a clearer run.

You’re right jollif that 3 year olds don’t win often, but DON’T TOUCH won it 2 years back
at 3. He’s back in again this year, but you’ve already mentioned one that I’d give serious
consideration to who’s also a 3 year old. TOMMY TAYLOR looks like an improving sort and looks
like being the only runner for Kevin Ryan who has won this 4 times out of the last ten runnings.
I’ve not backed him, but if he gets a good draw tomorrow, I’ll probably have a few quid on before
    the 20s disappear.

My apologies BigG, forgot all about Don’t Touch! Not many contest the race usually but it can pay to follow one with the right form. Growl and Ekhtiyaar my only bets so far but will likely add a couple more on the day.

Of my 3 long-range nibbles only Aeolus is going to run.

I’ll wait for final decs before diving in but I’m becoming more tempted by Magical Memory by the day.

Will be a hard one for me to take Joliff, got greedy with him at Haydock, and on reflection, behind an awesome Harry Angel, he didn’t run that badly. I might very well have him as a saver, will depend on the final line up, but he certainly looks a fair price right now.

Today’s meeting called off due to waterlogging, hopefully can recover in time for Saturday!

    Fingers crossed Joliff.

Obviously changes things a lot if it does go ahead, but without looking through the final line up closely, the ones that spring to mind for this ground are Withernsea & Stamp Hill.

As feared my horse isn’t declared, with the ground likely to be testing I think something like Stamp Hill can outrun his odds off a low weight, he is proven under conditions.
