Well done Welsh National winners
December 27, 2016 at 17:07 #1278794I see some talking the performance down because he ran off 155, but he does not care at all for that type of ground and always seems to need driving along on it. Also, he made several poor jumps and yet came to four out and showed what he had left by flying it. Was against him at the start of the season as one of the laziest beasts I’ve ever seen but I’m a convert now.
I heard Tizz half-joking about the World Hurdle but surely the Gold Cup, especially if Dicky made it an out and out stamina test, has to be the target. There’s the best part of 200k in the WH purse and I suppose if he was anywhere close to the trainers’ championship he might be tempted. Also, the owners seem to think they’re running for a place behind Thistlecrack, but although I think that one is a superstar, what has not been throughly tested about him is his stamina. I doubt he’d be vulnerable but nobody knows and arguably the only horse currently who could test it is Native River, especially as he’ll improve again.
Well done Gord, GT and all winners but a special mention (yet again) for Bobby (VTC) who had this down as a top horse a long, long time ago. Great call, Bobby.
December 27, 2016 at 17:18 #1278799Well if this isn’t the easiest race of the year to assess now it looks like Native River is running. He’s got top weight but that wont stop him,he’s actually rated 163 now but runs off 159 due to the early closure of this race.I know Caroles Destrier has a 4lb pull on their Hennessey run but thats not enough to reverse the form. Both horses trade at 10/1 jt Favs today and I have missed all the 25/1 as I didn’t expect connections to run him but this fast improving 6yo only has to turn up to win this as he fits perfectly in the ‘Carvills Hill’ and ‘Synchronised’ moukd of weight carrying achievers.TAPK has gone in hard with a £100 e/w bet at 10/1 with ‘BetFred’ who I cant believe haven’t slashed his odds because I’m on and another £100 win at 10’s on the machine..’Caroles Destrier’ would be my main danger if ‘Shutthefrontdoor’ 33/1 doesn’t turn up.
Hope I’m not coming across as boring?

Well played. And well done to the rest of you on NR.
Sad for me seeing one of my 10 to follow alarmingly pull up after goin round nicely in the midst of it all. Hope ONENIGHTINVIENNA is ok. If anyone hears anything, I’d like to know he’s alright.
December 27, 2016 at 17:49 #1278807Yes well done TAPK and Ginger getting him at what looks a bloody ridiculous 10/1 now
and DBR I see you backed him too
Bobby, good luck with your ante post on him for the Gold Cup, that’s looking huge now
In the Saturday H’cap Tipping Competition, I put up Royale Knight as winner and Raz De Maree,
who was 50/1 at that time, as my e/w choice…..and then I only backed Royale Knight e/w.
WTF was I thinking about
December 28, 2016 at 02:39 #1278869Great those who backed Native River. But just like to tank top man VTC Bobby who talked me into Houblon e/w. A cracking run from a horse who always gives his best. I love this beautiful animal…oops i’m a bit drunk saying this.
December 28, 2016 at 11:46 #1278904You’re welcome Homer, and you’ll probably be the same as me this morning, just a wee bit hungover lol. Native River winning, and Houblon and Beg To Differ both placing at 40’s was the perfect result for me. Had a day out yesterday, and that result sent me out with a smile on my face……….though I’m not quite capable of smiling this morning lol
December 28, 2016 at 11:48 #1278905Oh I’m getting excited Graham, but his pal Thistlecrack is a tough nut to crack, and I just hope Native makes it now to The Gold Cup, as they’ll obviously be keeping their options open.
December 28, 2016 at 11:51 #1278906I certainly am VTC. Well done on the result. Just watched the race again and NR was certainly impressive. Could this be another Many Clouds? Run in the GC followed up by a National win
December 28, 2016 at 11:51 #1278907Thanks for that Joe, appreciated, love this horse to bits, and think he could end up very very special (if he isn’t already).
Well done Gord & Ginger with the 10’s, an easier 10-1 winner you’ll not find, and of course everyone else on here who had him.
December 28, 2016 at 11:54 #1278909lol Homer, I’ve just had a big fry up, but it’s not made any difference lol.
I don’t think he’ll go The National, but if he did, he’d be a sight to behold, and he looks perfect for carrying a weight round there. I think the owners aren’t keen on Aintree, but I’m sure this boy (and probably Ginger) could change their mind.
December 28, 2016 at 12:18 #1278917Hair of the dog should do the trick Bobby
December 28, 2016 at 12:22 #1278918lol G, I was over in your neck of the woods yesterday, and a few pubs I will not be showing my face in for a while
December 28, 2016 at 18:00 #1278989@ Middle of March – sorry, but I think this is bad news. TRF had him listed under departures last night …
December 28, 2016 at 19:06 #1278997That was some performance by the winner, and I think it was significantly better than he is getting credit for.
Great early 10-1 for Ginger + TAPK, you guys must have been counting your pounds a long way out.
Well done yet again Venture, you must be excited by Native winning, and having 2 horses placed at 40-1 must have been the icing on the cake. I take my hat off to you, it was like The Hennessy all over again for you.
Well done Ben B + Homer with the big price places as well
December 29, 2016 at 01:19 #1279047Thanks again Buckers, was a very good day………….and would have been even better if my old pal Raz hadn’t spoilt the party, he did me for The Exactas & Trifectas
December 29, 2016 at 01:38 #1279049Urgh, just like Eastlake did for me. Sorry about that VtC. Add him to your very own **** list IMO.
December 29, 2016 at 12:22 #1279096lol Zark, after Frodon did the same to me in The Caspian Caviar, then Raz can join him on that **** list haha
