Tell me about it Homer, he was the pick of my original “book” horses by a mile, but as I said on my post on Saturday morning, didn’t have a standout fancy this year, but I’m glad I singled him out anyway haha.
I’m the opposite Homer. I had Neptune Collonges in 2012, as well as a handsome return from Seabass the same year, and Double Seven a couple of years back, but apart from that my record is pretty poor, and Rule The World was only the 4th time I’ve backed the winner.
I was due some late rain going in favour, after it costing Double Seven victory in this 2 years ago, and also costing Holywell in last years Gold Cup. Swings and Roundabouts I suppose.
Glad you’re mum collected, hope she got a few quid.
Normal service will be resumed next year Homer, just avoid anything I’m backing and you’ll be halfway there
April 10, 2016 at 22:28 #1242010Don Poli for next year. Good jumper, will stay, just not quite quick enough for good grade one races like the gold cup or king George or the bowl.
April 10, 2016 at 22:56 #1242011Great stuff, Bobby. Fine reward for all the study and work you put in and your superb contributions to this forum. Enjoy it, my friend
April 10, 2016 at 23:08 #1242013Cheers Joe, that’s much appreciated…..it’s been a fun 24 hours
April 11, 2016 at 16:47 #1242073Very well done, Bobby! Chuffed to see you do so well after the good turn you did for me at Cheltenham!
April 11, 2016 at 19:35 #1242101Brilliant Peter, much appreciated, many thanks. I don’t think either of us will forget Cause of Causes coming round the home turn for a while
April 12, 2016 at 21:52 #1242200I’d also like to point out how unlucky Double Ross was; with tack trouble causing his premature exit. For a horse who doesn’t stay he was still well up there and going well when it all went wrong after the Canal second time. It appeared as if to me Ryan Hatch gave the lad a bit of a breather, thus allowing him to perhaps stay that little bit further than he usually would. I’m not saying he’d have been in the firing line jumping the last, but i would have liked to have seen just how far he’d have gone before tiring. I think Hatch gave him a superb ride to that point. Could well be a 3 mile+ chase win in this one. Maybe Becher bound?
P.S. Perhaps Gigginstown should change it so the blue cap is their primary colour!
April 12, 2016 at 22:21 #1242202Just back from sunnier climes and pretty much missed Aintree. Done my best to avoid gambling but had to follow up my previous selections on the GN
Many thanks to GT who put up a marvellous pre race review (matching VtC’s) and a smashing 3rd 100/1 shot which I had a few quid on e/w.

Seem to remember you giving me a funny look on Saturday Peter when I told you Double Ross would stay …nor did you take notice of my Robbie Dunne eulogizing… Think you need to listen to you’re old man

I’m man enough to admit when I’m wrong! It is no coincidence that the day after you gave Robbie Dunn such a glowing review and marvelled at his ability to “stick to horses like glue”; he would go on to perform the greatest recovery in Grand National history!
