By the looks of the ground it may well be not enough of a test for horses like Annie Power, Nichols Canyon, The New One and Lil Rockafeller.

Good for My Tent Or Yours, Peace And Co, Identity Thief, Hargam and Sign Of A Victory.

…Annie Power has the speed, helped by superlative jockeyship judgement by Ruby.

Well done to Annie Power, she jumped well and was different class today.

The New One looked like he might reward my each-way support but he just isn’t good enough. Time for Twiston-Davies and connections to accept that now.

There were some really poor efforts in there and luckily for me Identity Thief was one of them as my place lay. I felt his supposed improvement was questionable.

Annie could be back again next year on this evidence and it was nice to see her out of the egg and spoon races for a big success. Well done Tommy and all the others who kept the faith, I thought she was too short and I was well wrong on that score.

A weak renewal but a terrific winner. It might be nice to see Annie, Altior and Faugheen next year and a bit less dross in the field.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Course record time………not bad for a horse most thought not quick enough for 2m!

Worthy fav in my mind especially getting that 7lb allowance (that she didn’t need).

I heard a lot of nonsense that stepping back from 2m4f would be an issue but I felt that the rest of the field had much bigger question marks to answer than she did. Lets not forget the bitching and moaning there was over her not running 2 yrs ago when The Fly was the main player and nobody made comments then about the trip then being an issue but all of a sudden now she is simply a 2m4f horse with people questioning whether she is quick enough…..just thought it was odd that it was made such an issue going into the race.

Cue now the arguments about whether AP should/is allowed to defend her crown against Faugheen, Artic Fire & NC – as surely the Mares race is a no go with VVM looking likely to farm it the way Q did.

…And she only took part because of a coincidence.
Had both Faugheen not ben injured and connections not got a ready-made replacement for Annie in the Mares – She wouldn’t have run.

Well lads what a great winner. I didn’t back her. I backed Nichols canyon each way but i would nearly have been more disappointed if NC had beaten AP it was just lovely to watch. And a second point I know I have harped on many times about how the New One is a decent horse but no where near champion hurdle class. I hope those idiots who continue to lump on him keep up the good work because only for them fool’s both Annie and NC would have been much shorter.

As much as I love AP I don’t think a 7lb allowance would not be enough to withstand The Machine (assuming he returns the same horse).

Let’s hope NTD has now finally got the multiple memos that he isn’t quick enough and aims him at the Aintree Hurdle next with a view to an attempt at 2017 World Hurdle.

The form is in the book for Annie Power now but it wasn’t written in stone beforehand. Even the Channel 4 pundits, particularly A P McCoy, were not sure she was fast enough and they know a bit about horse racing.

The way Annie Power won today, you would think Willie Mullins will be feeling he made a balls up in running Annie Power in the World Hurdle, where she was second, while Hurricane Fly was vainly chasing home Jezki and My Tent Or Yours at the Festival two years ago?

Certainly food for thought anyway, along with why she has mainly plied her trade in inferior quality, uncompetitive races?

I hope she has now earned the right to stay at the top-level instead of being slotted in to whichever slot seems to be deemed suitable on the Mullins Merry-Go-Round.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

A very dull routine race. At least there was a good winner. AP showed she didn`t need the 7 lb allowance which is a nonsense in itself. I was most disappointed with Identity Thief. Top Notch could have been a bit closer with a more astute ride, Jacob seems clueless

I’d love to find out what has happened to Peace & Co. Even off today’s fast pace he never looked happy and was done with a long way out.

what happened to peace and co is that he won a hugely overrated triumph hurdle full of journeyman horses and everyone thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread

Just read that P&C bled visibly today. Suspect he bled last time too given head carriage

To be fair, Peace And Co has always had a high head carriage. Looks increasingly temperamental probably due to physical problems. Lungs/breathing/bleeding. Expect to hear of a major wind op in the Summer. Highly unlikely he’ll ever get back to the form he showed as a juvenile, let alone improve on it.
