    [b:3n21eoum]2013/2014 TRF ANTE-POST BETTING COMPETITION[/b:3n21eoum]

Competition starts TODAY and ends DERBY DAY

The “8 Compulsory races” are 4 Flat Classics that even most die hard Jumps fans are interested in and 4 jumps races being three from the Cheltenham Festival plus the Grand National, so ditto for Flat fans. The first “Compulsory race” is not until March; and with many “Other races” for TRFers to choose from – there is plenty of time for more people to join in the competition.

So whether you like to bet mainly in Big Handicaps, mainly Grade 1’s, mainly Flat, mainly Jumps or a mixture – you can in this competition.

    WINNING PRIZE:
Winner gets a print of Frankel signed by Sir Henry Cecil, very generously donated by Hammy.

    STAKES:
TRFers may choose in each race whether to have:

2 points win on ONE horse
    or
1 point each way on ONE horse
(All each way bets to be scored to ¼ odds)
    or
1 point win bets on TWO horses
(You may choose to place these two bets at different times)

That way everyone is staking the same points per race.

Unless otherwise stated at time of selection – bets will be counted as 1 point win bets. This is to stop anyone putting a selection up as a 1 point bet and then claiming it as a 2 point bet after seeing the price taken shorten considerably!

You may select just one 1 point bet if you wish.

Anyone wishing to have two 1 point win bets on the same horse in the same race can do so. eg 1 point win bet @ 20/1 and another 1 point win bet @ 12/1 a month later.

    WHEN:
Selections MUST be placed BEFORE final declarations day (ie Ante-Post). I realise declarations are usually only known at 11:00 am but for this competition bets must be in by 12:00am midnight the day before declarations come out.

    COMPULSORY RACES:
Participants MUST make a selection/s in ALL 8 Compulsory races (4 flat and 4 jumps), anyone failing to do so will be counted as losing bet/s. ie -2 points for every no bet race.

Participants are given ONE EXTRA 2 points win bet and ONE EXTRA 1 point each way bet to be used on any of the 8 Compulsory races; to do as you see fit. eg You may want to use one/them if a non-runner means you are without a bet. Or as an additional bet/s in a race. These Extra Bets are optional.

    8 Compulsory races:
    Champion Hurdle
    World Hurdle
    Cheltenham Gold Cup
    Grand National
    2000 Guineas
    1000 Guineas
    Oaks
    Derby

In addition, participants MUST make selection/s in AT LEAST 15 and NO MORE THAN 25 of the Other named races. Again, anyone not selecting horse/s for at least 15 of these races will be treated as losing bets. eg If only selecting in 12 of the Other races you will lose an additional 6 points (15 – 12 = 3 X 2 points = 6) from your over all +/- Score.

For anyone selecting more than 25 “Other Races” only the first 25 races selected will count towards your total score.

Any bet in a race not quoted above or below will not be counted.

Participants have a total of between 50 and 70 points to stake (2 points per bet).

    NON RUNNERS:
Any non-runner is counted as a losing bet and is counted towards your total.

If the non-runner is a 1 point win bet you still have another 1 point win bet to play with anyway.

If the non-runner is a 2 point win bet or 1 point each way bet lost – then you may bet again, but if choosing to do so it is counted as two races towards your total (ie 4 points are lost not just 2).

If the non-runner is in one of the 8 Compulsory Races then any further bet will be subtracted from the number of bets possible in the Other Races section. eg “no more than 25 Other races” becomes no more than 24. (Also see Extra races).

    BOOKMAKERS:
Bets must be quoted from one of 10 Bookmakers:
Bet 365, Skybet, Boylesports, Sportingbet, BetVictor, Paddy Power, Stan James, Ladbrokes, Corals, William Hills.

No bets on betting exchanges or obscure bookmakers.

Any bet needs to be quoted on ODDSCHECKER by one of 10 bookmakers. So sorry, ringing up for a price will not be allowed, as they can not be checked.

SCORING / HOW TO WRITE BETS UP / QUOTING PREVIOUS BETS:
Up to you but… When putting your bets up it would make it easier to score if using the QUOTE button to quote ALL previous bets (at least up to the next Leaderboard Update). Also, it would be helpful if keeping your own scores by putting a total in with your bet.

Updates (leaderboard) will only be done periodically, at relevant times. But am sure those picking good winners and doing well – will let us all know.

    EDITING:
Strictly NO EDITING, even if it is to change your total. If you’ve made a mistake in writing just “quote” it and say why you want it changed.

    REMINDER:
Players need to select for all 8 Compulsory Races AND at least 15 (no more than 25) from the Other Races list.

    TIE BREAK:
In the event of a tie at the end of the competition the one with the biggest priced winner wins. If it’s the same – the one with the second biggest price wins. If same – the third… etc.

    Good Luck All.

As the 6/1 Orfevre in the Arc is still available Nathan, I will reserve it for you if wanted?

Very sorry Danny, the 11/1 is no longer there for Simenon, will reserve you 10/1 if still wanted?

    TAPK

legend of the Ante-Post Kingdom selects.-

Champion Hurdle,.- My Tent or Yours

    6/1 freely available!
I think the price has collapsed in reality and one poor effort will see his price drift out to 10/1 but because he’s the biggest certainty of the whole year I’m putting him up now hoping he goes 3/1 after 1 run!

2 Points win. 6/1 William Hills.

    Gold Cup,.- Boston Bob

I still think he has to go Gold cup route and 25/1 is fair,if he does turn up on the day I cant see how this fellows profile will allow him to go off at these sort of prices!

    1 Point Win 25/1 Bet365

    Gold Cup,.- First Lieutenant

I wont be giving up with this fellow, some good judges think this was his year had he ran but I believe he’ll be just as good next year,if not better,he still has scope for a bit more improvement imo.

1 Point Win 16/1 Stan James.

    2000gns,.- Stubbs

I’ve seen enough already to suggest this fellow has a proper 2000Gns profile, after he wins the Coventry the 20/1 freely available now will dissapear!

    1 Point e/w 20/1 William Hills

    plus

2 points Win and 1 point e/w according to rules at 20/1 William Hills

! Thats me won the competition already then,I’ll give the ‘Frankel’ Pic to Jonibake!

Don’t know about "freely available" Gord, Stubbs is only 20/1 with William Hill, as low as 12/1 elsewhere. Using both "Extra bets" on one horse this early; interesting tactics.

I’d just like to say fair to Ginge for getting this together and putting it on. I was originally a bit sceptical about the competition and thought it sounded like it was just being billed as ‘Gord v Ginge’ Credit where it’s due though Mark it looks like a lot of thought’s gone into this and I hope it doesn’t slip to the back of peoples’ minds as it deserves to be successful. Good stuff!

Have you ever wondered, why bother?
The more you do for people – the more they find fault.

Let’s stop this xxxxxxx competition right now! I am not doing this thing if all it’s xxxxxxx seen as is a xxxxxxx duel!

I’ve thought for a while would be good for TRF to have an ante-post competition, but clearly I am wrong.
